Emmy’s punching bag: Trump, GOP, Kim Davis

Comedian Andy Samberg laid it on pretty thick against conservatives during his Emmy Awards hosting duties, telling a national audience via several televised moments that – basically – Donald Trump, Kim Davis and Paula Deen were all inferior beings.

“Paula Deen is on this season of ‘Dancing With the Stars,’ but I’ve got to say,” Samberg said, the Blaze reported, “if I wanted to see an intolerant lady dance, I would have gone to one of Kim Davis’ four weddings.”

Deen, the celebrity Southern cook whose star fell from grace when she admitted to the media she used the “N-word” in private conversations years ago, is coming out with a new low-fat cookbook. Davis, meanwhile, the beleaguered Kentucky clerk who spent five days in jail for refusing to abide a court order and issue wedding licenses to same-sex couples, was mocked by some in the press who saw her Christian faith at odds with her four marriages.

Samberg went on, in reference to Davis’ stance on “gay” marriage and exit from jail.

“It’s so ironic that she came out of jail to ‘Eye of the Tiger’ when you consider how many dudes have boned each other to that song,” he said.

Samberg then moved on to Trump, the Republican candidate for president who’s burning up the polls and holding fast to a number one slot with conservative voters.

“Donald Trump, of course, is running for president, to the delight of uncles everywhere,” he said. “But I’ve got to say, sure, Donald Trump seems racist. … What else?”

The slamming of Trump continued under Julia Louis-Dreyfus during her acceptance speech for Best Actress in a comedy show, in which she plays Selina Meyer, the vice president. She took the stage and as a joke, conflated her show’s character with that of the billionaire businessman.

She said, various media reported: “I think it would be appropriate at this moment to quote [the show]: ‘What a great honor it must be for you to honor me tonight.’ No, wait, no. I’m so sorry, Donald Trump said that. It’s getting trickier and trickier to satirize his stuff.”
