A group of Constitution-minded former and current sheriffs in Colorado are pushing ahead with their efforts to repeal the state’s strict gun laws that became effective in 2013.
The laws — which among other things imposed universal background checks on gun purchases and limited magazines to 15 rounds — cost several lawmakers their jobs and the state several businesses that produced gun-related products.
The sheriffs claim the gun laws are unenforceable and violate the 2nd Amendment rights of Coloradans. Portions of the law that sheriffs pointed out as particularly unenforceable were the magazine capacity limits and restrictions on guns lent to friends. Several of the sheriffs refused to enforce the law at all in their counties.
After a district court rejected the sheriffs’ initial claims, they appealed to the 10th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. The appeals court allowed 30 minutes for each side to make their case during the hearing on Monday, which is about double the time the court normally allows, according to a report by CBS4.
The 2nd Amendment-infringing law the sheriffs are fighting is a typical knee-jerk response by gun grabbers. It was rammed through the Colorado Legislature following the false flag shooting at the Aurora, Colorado, movie theater. In August, James Holmes was sentenced to 12 consecutive life terms plus 3,318 years for the shooting.
Gun grabbers and the totalitarians up and down government are content to whittle away bit by bit at your rights. They don’t care if it takes 1,000 years to completely disarm and subject you. They are nefarious, determined, disingenuous and patient. They are masters at employing gradualism to achieve their ultimate goal of disarming law-abiding citizens.
