Congressman: Muslim community would ‘kill every homosexual in U.S.’

Rep. Mo Brooks, R-Ala.

A Republican congressman is warning Democrats: Don’t pander to the Muslim community for votes, because “if it had its way, [it] would kill every homosexual in the United States of America.”

The comments came from Rep. Mo Brooks, R-Ala., who was interviewed on WAPI radio’s “Matt & Aunie” show in Birmingham, Alabama, after Orlando Muslim shooter Omar Mateen massacred 49 people at a gay nightclub and injured 53 more.

“Matt and Aunie” host Matt Murphy noted that the left appears to overlook Islam’s murderous hatred toward homosexuals when Democrats seek votes from the Muslim community.

“The left seems to run away from the reality [of] this anger and almost hatred toward homosexuality and freedom of choice,” he said.

While Christianity disagrees with the homosexual lifestyle, Murphy noted that mainstream Christians do not advocate the murder of gay people.

“The Christian faith can disagree with the lifestyle. The Christian faith can say, well, this goes against the teachings of what I believe. But I don’t know of any mainstream Christians that are out there saying that homosexuals need to be put to death.”

On the other hand, he said, “We have nations, Muslim-based nations – Saudi Arabia is an example – saying that homosexuality is punishable by death. This is mainstream Muslim thought. And the left simply refuses to face this fact.”

That’s when Brooks argued that Democrats are concerned about grabbing votes from the Muslim community and are finding themselves in a “perplexing position” because of Islam’s teachings on homosexuality.

“Well, it’s probably because they’re counting votes. And they’re seeking a block vote from the Muslim community in the United States. And that’s a community that is increasing in political power, as it’s doing in Europe. More and more votes are there, and the Democrats are in a perplexing position,” Brooks explained.

“On the one hand, they’re trying to appeal to the gay community. But on the other hand, they’re trying to also appeal to the Muslim community, which, if it had its way, would kill every homosexual in the United States of America.”

Just last week, WND reported when a Muslim speaker in Sanford, Florida, in 2013 called for death to homosexuals.

Sheikh Farrokh Sekaleshfar said killing of homosexuals is the “compassionate” thing to do: “Death is the sentence. We know there’s nothing to be embarrassed about this, death is the sentence.”

Sheikh Sekaleshfar’s call for the death of all homosexuals was based on the tenets of Islam. He is viewed as an expert on Shariah Islamiyya, or Islamic law.

Dr. Farrokh Sekaleshfar admits the Islamic death sentence applies in limited circumstances and is not applicable under U.S. law. But he also says the only way gays and lesbians can be forgiven is to die.

“We have to have that compassion for people, with homosexuals, it’s the same,” said Dr. Sekaleshfar. “Out of compassion, let’s get rid of them now.”

Also, an Islamic leader in Norway, Fahad Qureshi, who founded Islam Net, reportedly told a Sunni crowd that mainstream “normal” Muslims support the “death penalty for homosexuals” and “stoning for adultery.”

In 2015, WND columnist Matt Barber noted that both Christians and homosexuals are being “lawfully executed” in Iran and other nations around the world.

“[I]n Muslim nations both Christians and homosexuals are persecuted. That’s Islam. Each are systemically jailed, tortured and even executed. Curiously, it’s the same cowardly leftists who disingenuously accuse Christians of ‘anti-gay hate’ at home who remain silent while homosexuals are, in point of fact, tortured to death by Muslims abroad.”

Barber added, “Now that is hate.”

The Washington Post noted that homosexuality is punishable by death and/or imprisonment in the following Muslim countries:

  • Yemen: Married men may be sentenced to death by stoning if they’ve had homosexual sex. Single men may be flogged or spend a year in prison. Women can go to jail for up to seven years.
  • Iran: Homosexual men can be put to death, in accordance with Shariah law. Men and women may be whipped just for kissing.
  • Mauritania: Muslim men who have gay sex can be stoned to death, and women sent to prison.
  • Nigeria: Homosexuality is a felony punishable by prison or death. A new law makes it illegal for homosexual individuals to form clubs or even hold meetings.
  • Qatar: Muslims, regardless of sexual preference, can be put to death for extramarital sex.
  • Saudi Arabia: Men who engage in sodomy can be put to death by stoning.
  • Afghanistan: Shariah law criminalizes homosexuality and an imposes a maximum penalty of death.
  • Somalia: The penal code calls for prison. Some Islamic courts have ordered the death penalty.
  • Sudan: Laws call for whipping, prison and even the death penalty.
  • United Arab Emirates: Sex outside of marriage is prohibited. The Post noted that lawyers and experts disagree on whether homosexuals can be put to death for consensual sex under federal law.

And ISIS – the terrorist group to which Mateen pledged his allegiance as he massacred 49 people at the gay nightclub – throws homosexuals off of buildings and then stones them if they don’t die on impact.

In his National Review column, “Killing homosexuals is not ISIS law, it is Muslim law,” Andrew McCarthy wrote: “The mandate that homosexuals be killed is not from ISIS or al-Qaeda. It is from sharia — which draws on Muslim scripture.”

McCarthy cited an English version of the classic Shariah manual, “Reliance of the Traveller,” which was endorsed by scholars of al-Azhar University, the International Institute of Islamic Thought and other influential Islamic governments and thinkers. He cites the following teaching on homosexuality found in the chapter on “Enormites”:

Sec. p17.0: SODOMY AND LESBIANISM

Sec. p17.1: In more than one place in the Holy Koran, Allah recounts to us the story of Lot’s people, and how He destroyed them for their wicked practice. There is consensus among both Muslims and the followers of all other religions that sodomy is an enormity. It is even viler and uglier than adultery [AM: which is punished brutally, including by death].

Sec. p17.2: Allah Most High says: “Do you approach the males of humanity, leaving the wives Allah has created for you? But you are a people who transgress” (Koran 26:165-66).

Sec. p17.3: The Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) said: 1. “Kill the one who sodomizes and the one who lets it be done to him.” 2. “May Allah curse him who does what Lot’s people did.” 3. “Lesbianism by women is adultery between them.”

McCarthy also cited the teachings from Sunni Islam’s “most influential living Shariah jurist,” Sheikh Yusuf al-Qaradawi:

We must be aware that in regulating the sexual drive Islam has prohibited not only illicit sexual relations and all what leads to them, but also the sexual deviation known as homosexuality. This perverted act is a reversal of the natural order, a corruption of man’s sexuality, and a crime against the rights of females. (The same applies equally to the case of lesbianism.)

The spread of this depraved practice in a society disrupts its natural life pattern and makes those who practice it slaves to their lusts, depriving them of decent taste, decent morals, and a decent manner of living. The story of the people of Prophet Lut (Lot), peace be upon him, as narrated in the Koran should be sufficient for us. Prophet Lut’s people were addicted to this shameless depravity, abandoning natural, pure, lawful relations with women in the pursuit of this unnatural, foul, and illicit practice. That is why their Prophet Lut, peace be on him, told them, “What! Of all creatures, do you approach males and leave the spouses whom your Lord has created for you? Indeed, you are people transgressing (all limits)!” (Koran, 26: 165–166)

The strangest expression of these peoples’ perversity of nature, lack of guidance, depravity of morals, and aberration of taste was their attitude toward the guests of Prophet Lut, peace be upon him. [Here follows a digression on the story of Lot as related in the Koran. —Eds.]

Muslim jurists have held differing opinions concerning the punishment for this abominable practice. Should it be the same as the punishment for fornication, or should both the active and passive participants be put to death? While such punishments may seem cruel, they have been suggested to maintain the purity of the Islamic society and to keep it clean of perverted elements.
