The left’s systematic castration of the American male

“We make men without chests and expect of them virtue and enterprise. We laugh at honour and are shocked to find traitors in our midst. We castrate and bid the geldings be fruitful.” — C.S. Lewis, “The Abolition of Man”

I am pushing 60, so I grew up embracing legends like Gen. George S. Patton and the characters played by John Wayne and Clint Eastwood. So imagine this old-timer’s chagrin last week when I sat down to watch one of my favorite awards shows: the ESPYs, courtesy of the sports broadcast and publishing magnate ESPN.

Each year since 1997, the Arthur Ashe Courage Award has been given at the ESPYs to a man or woman “whose contributions transcend sports through courageous action.” I almost choked when they announced this year’s winner: Caitlyn Jenner.

Caitlyn was Bruce Jenner until the publication of the July issue of Vanity Fair, where Jenner announced that she is now a woman. As for why she is now a woman, few details were offered other than she now takes female hormone shots and wears designer dresses. She has a new upcoming reality show, “I Am Cait,” an interesting twist that follows Bruce Jenner’s reality show, “Keeping Up with the Kardashians.” In that show, Jenner was a doting father and husband to the ultra-rich Kardashian family. That is until ratings began to fall, which coincided with this new incarnation of Bruce Jenner — the 1976 Olympic gold medalist in one of the most grueling competitions in the word, the men’s decathlon.

Bruce Jenner some 40 years later wouldn’t have been my first choice to win the award named after Ashe, who broke the color barrier in professional tennis and courageously battled AIDS until his death. As for the former Bruce, now Caitlyn, she won’t comment on past surgeries or future plans for the full mutilation.

Jenner’s winning the award caused a firestorm in the media after the ESPY Awards. Little of it was against Jenner, who was instead widely hailed as a hero of our time because of her courage. At the same time, the media took issue with NFL legend Brett Favre, who was in attendance to give out a separate award.

The next day, the New York Post ran this headline: “Brett Favre makes the ESPYs uncomfortable for everyone.”

I was watching the program live when the camera focused on Favre, who clapped his hands twice and then just rubbed them together. He didn’t take part in the thunderous ovation by much of the audience that sometimes interrupted Jenner, who spoke in a voice that was neither male nor female while being draped in a long wig and tight dress.

Yes, the media attacked Favre, who owns the record for consecutive starts by an NFL quarterback at 297 games, a stretch in toughness that makes the baseball “iron man” records held by Lou Gehrig and later Cal Ripken Jr. pale in comparison.

Yes, it was Favre, who starred at one of the hardest positions in all of sports for 20 years, who was considered rude for his actions.

The mass media gleefully celebrated a reality TV star who may have not had a sex change and demonized a male sports legend.

I’m a libertarian. What Jenner wants to do with her/his body is nobody’s business but Jenner’s. And if I don’t want to celebrate it, well that should be my business, too. Yet the progressives tell us Jenner is an American icon; and if we don’t, agree there is something very wrong with us.

None of this is even worth reporting except for the fact that Jenner’s story is just one bucket in wave upon wave that strikes us every day and slowly erodes reasoned thinking. This is the work of the progressives, and at the top of their hit list are independent white males. They are the segment of society most likely to reject a Hillary Clinton presidency, which will be rich with promises for women and minorities, as well as all peoples strange and useless.

In itself the Jenner-ESPYs circus is immaterial. What is important is the fact that the media believed he deserved an award for courage. The progressives and their liberal media want to castrate the American male. No more John Wayne, no more Clint Eastwood… they want compliant men who go along with their program of complacency. That is because the progressives want men to submit to Clinton’s presidency.

The biggest obstacle for her and her progressive backers are traditional men, and the bad news for us is we are losing.

An Alex Jones’ Infowars.com headline asked: “Has Caitlyn Jenner become the most popular woman in America?”

The accompanying subhead stated: “At the age of 65, Caitlyn Jenner has become far more famous than Olympic athlete Bruce Jenner ever was.”

The story goes on to say:

In the United States today, it is estimated that there are about 700,000 people that identify as transgender, and there are millions of others that identify as gay or lesbian. To those communities, Caitlyn Jenner is more than a hero — she is a symbol of their hopes and their dreams. In addition, Gallup has found that overall support for gay marriage in America is at an all-time record high of 60 percent. Jenner represents the direction that our culture is headed, and so most of the nation is greatly celebrating what she has done.

My question is that if Jenner represents the hopes and dreams for a few million people, who represents the hopes and dreams of the other 300 million Americans?

Don’t count on Clinton. As secretary of state, she made it possible for transgender people to update their sex on their United States passports. In an interview with NPR’s “Fresh Air,” Clinton said:

I think it was part of the overall efforts to try to treat people with dignity and equality.

… I had an opportunity, through executive action, to recognize that there were barriers and vestiges of discrimination that had no place in a moderate American workplace and so I acted.

If Clinton and her progressive backers get their way, America will be a changed nation from when the country and the world respected President Ronald Reagan, a leader who said what he meant and meant what he said. Donald Trump is the closest person we have who is independent enough as well as man enough to be our next president. If he isn’t elected and if Clinton is elected, a lot of white men will be attacked just as Favre was — for not clapping enough for the rights of the LGBT community. I wonder: What would John Wayne say?

Yours in good times and bad,

–John Myers
