Savage: Trump is ‘Winston Churchill of our time’

One of the nation’s top radio talk-show hosts, Michael Savage of “The Savage Nation,” enthusiastically threw his considerable influence behind GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump Wednesday, declaring: “I’m for Trump. Point-blank. Best choice we have.”

Savage also called him the “Winston Churchill of our time.”

In his interview with Trump, Savage said he believes Hispanics in the U.S. legally will vote for Trump.

“They of all people know how hard it is to make a buck, and they want a businessman to run the country so they can hold on to what they make,” he said. “They don’t want a socialist stealing their money.”

Savage noted that a Public Policy Polling survey released Wednesday showed Trump leading the GOP field among Hispanics. According to the poll, 34 percent of self-identified Hispanic respondents said they had a favorable opinion of Trump.

“It confirms exactly what I suspected,” Savage said.

Then the radio talk host turned to the issue of voter IDs, saying, “We know we have a problem with illegals. We know that we have illegals voting in this country. We know that to vote in Mexico every eligible Mexican has to have a tamper-proof photo ID card with a thumb print and an embossed hologram.”

Savage pressed Trump on whether he would use an executive action to establish strict voter ID laws in the U.S. if he became president. While Trump agreed that everyone should have an ID, since it’s often necessary to make basic purchases in the U.S., he stopped short offering a direct commitment to mandate voter IDs through executive action.

Savage interjected: “I know, I don’t want to nail you, I don’t want to get you to say ‘yes’ and then they’ll nail you for that. ‘Trump goes on right-wing Savage Show and says’ — right away, they start screaming racism. I get it. I know what they do. I know the game.”

But Trump replied, “You know, something has to be done.” He argued that without an ID, someone could vote as many as 10 times.

“Who the hell is gonna know the difference?” he asked.

Trump added, “I have so many people from Mexico who work for me. They’re wonderful people. They’re great people. And I respect Mexico as a country. The problem is their leaders are very cunning and very smart, and they’re ripping off our nation like you’ve never seen.”

The GOP candidate noted that it’s “almost impossible” to become a citizen of Mexico.

“It’s so rigorous,” he said. “It’s so hard to become a citizen. They put you through the grinder, and you just can’t do it.

“And yet in our country, boom, they walk right over the border and everybody just comes in and has a good time. We pay for them, whether it’s in prisons or hospitals or anything.”

Listen to Michael Savage’s interview with Donald Trump:

To become a citizen of Mexico, an individual must have legally resided in Mexico for five years with an annually renewed FM2 immigrant visa and have been granted permanent residency status. According to Mexican law, citizens must speak Spanish and have some knowledge of Mexican history as demonstrated on a required exam. The naturalization process can take anywhere from two to five years.

In her 2010 column, “How Mexico treats illegal aliens,” conservative pundit and blogger Michelle Malkin highlighted Mexico’s treatment of illegal immigrants who cross its borders.

“The Mexican government will bar foreigners if they upset ‘the equilibrium of the national demographics.’ How’s that for racial and ethnic profiling?” she asked.

“If outsiders do not enhance the country’s ‘economic or national interests’ or are ‘not found to be physically or mentally healthy,’ they are not welcome. Neither are those who show ‘contempt against national sovereignty or security.’ They must not be economic burdens on society and must have clean criminal histories. Those seeking to obtain Mexican citizenship must show a birth certificate, provide a bank statement proving economic independence, pass an exam and prove they can provide their own health care.”

Malkin noted that illegal entry into Mexico is equal to a felony punishable by two years in prison.

“Document fraud is subject to fine and imprisonment; so is alien marriage fraud,” she wrote. “Evading deportation is a serious crime; illegal re-entry after deportation is punishable by ten years’ imprisonment. Foreigners may be kicked out of the country without due process and the endless bites at the litigation apple that illegal aliens are afforded in our country.”

Mexico also mandates that law enforcement officials cooperate to enforce immigration laws, including through arrests and deportations.

“The Mexican military is also required to assist in immigration enforcement operations,” Malkin wrote. “Native-born Mexicans are empowered to make citizens’ arrests of illegal aliens and turn them in to authorities.”

Mexico even tracks all its tourists and foreign nationals in its National Catalog of Foreigners. Its National Population Registry documents the identities of citizens, who carry citizens’ identity cards. Anyone who doesn’t possess the proper ID and documents may be arrested as an illegal alien.

Malkin said these requirements are listed in Mexico’s Lew General de Poblacion (General Law of the Population).

She noted, “There’s been no public clamor for ‘comprehensive immigration reform’ in Mexico, however, because pro-illegal alien speech by outsiders is prohibited.”

Trump made headlines in late June when he said: “The U.S. has become a dumping ground for everybody else’s problems. When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best. They’re not sending you. they’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems with us. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people.”

As WND reported, largely unreported data published by the FBI appears to back up Trump’s contentions regarding illegal aliens from Mexico committing drug and violent crime offenses in the U.S.

According to the FBI, criminal gangs – in some regions comprised significantly of illegal aliens – are wreaking havoc in the U.S., with 65 jurisdictions nationwide reporting gang-related offenses committed with firearms account for at least 95 percent of crime in those areas.

The FBI further documented gangs in Southwestern border regions consisting of up to 80 percent illegal aliens were committing a multitude of crimes in America, “including drug-related crimes, weapons trafficking, alien smuggling, human trafficking, prostitution, extortion, robbery, auto theft, assault, homicide, racketeering, and money laundering.”

Trump has said, as president, he would build a “great, great wall on our southern border.”

On July 23, Trump visited the U.S.-Mexico border, where his entourage arrived in a large motorcade escorted by police. He wore a white hat stamped with his campaign slogan: “Make America Great Again.”

The billionaire businessman promised he’ll bring U.S. jobs back to American shores so Hispanics here legally will have opportunities to work.

“I’ll take jobs back from China, I’ll take jobs back from Japan,” Trump said. “The Hispanics are going to get those jobs, and they’re going to love Trump.”
