New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie sent a strong message about marijuana to Colorado and Washington residents during a “Telling It Like It Is” town hall event in New Hampshire, saying their pot-smoking days are pretty much numbered.
“If you’re getting high in Colorado today, enjoy it,” he said, Bloomberg Politics reported. “As of January 2017, I will enforce the federal laws.”
Christie was referring to the date the new president will assume the White House – something he hopes will be him.
The governor has previously stated his hatred for marijuana and for the laws that now allow some states’ residents in Colorado and Washington to smoke it as recreation. Just a few months ago, he called tax dollars raised through legal marijuana sales “blood money,” and then vowed legalized smoking of the drug would never occur in New Jersey as long as he led.
Pew, meanwhile, found in a poll in 2014 53 percent of Americans support the leaglization of marijuana and only 44 percent opposed.
