Desperate Californians spray-painting grass

Grass

Californians are spray-painting grass.

Gov. Jerry Brown’s mandated restrictions on Californians’ water usage have led desperate homeowners to hire spray painters to color their lawns, an endeavor that’s proving big business for the creative entrepreneur.

“I probably have about seven appointments scheduled in just the next week or so,” said David Bartless, owner of Xtreme Green Grass, to KXTV-Sacramento.

His company is just one of several lawn-painting outfits that’s been benefiting big from the ongoing drought in the Golden State.

The company sprays non-toxic green dye on the brown spots in lawns, giving the appearance of a freshly watered yard, the Daily Call reported. The cost of spray-painting is comparatively cheap; the alternative, which is adding new grass material to the dried spots, costs upwards of several thousand dollars.

Californians have been ordered by the government to reduce their water usage by 25 percent. Violators face fines up to $10,000.
