(Politico) Joe Sestak was on the House floor when a party veteran delivered the warning: Do not, he was told, run for the U.S. Senate. Democratic leaders were firmly behind Arlen Specter in the 2010 Pennsylvania Senate race, Rep. Bob Brady reminded Sestak, and he would be inviting failure if he jumped in.
A few weeks later, Brady learned of Sestak’s campaign launch in the newspaper, after being assured he would get a heads-up if Sestak decided to run.
“He does his own thing,” Brady said in a recent interview, rattling off a list of perceived slights by Sestak toward Pennsylvania Democrats. “There’s not a lot of love there.”
