An anti-firearm propaganda film released earlier this month is being criticized after revelations that its creators deceptively edited an interview with 2nd Amendment supporters to make the activists look uninformed.
Under the Gun, a documentary which claims to examine “the events and people who have kept the gun debate fierce and the progress slow,” was produced and narrated by mainstream media lifer Katie Couric.
About 20 minutes into the lengthy propaganda piece Couric is seen interviewing members of the Virginia Citizens Defense League, “a non-profit, non-partisan, grassroots organization dedicated to advancing the fundamental human right of all Virginians to keep and bear arms.”
Couric is met with silence and blank stares in the film after asking the activists: “If there are no background checks for gun purchasers, how do you prevent felons or terrorists from purchasing a gun?”

But, according to a report in The Washington Free Beacon, everything is not what it seems.
Defense League members contacted the outlet to protest how they were depicted in the film and declare its editing “unbelievable and extremely unprofessional.”
“Katie Couric asked a key question during an interview of some members of our organization,” Philip Van Cleave, the organization’s president, said. “She then intentionally removed their answers and spliced in nine seconds of some prior video of our members sitting quietly and not responding. Viewers are left with the misunderstanding that the members had no answer to her question.”
The Defense League also provided an unedited audio version of the interview to clear up any questions about its members positions on the issue.

While Couric’s total disregard for truthfulness is irritating, it certainly isn’t shocking– especially since we’re talking about gun control here. Disseminating outright propaganda featuring Hollywood and mainstream media icons is one of the gun control left’s favorite tactics these days. Here are just a few examples we’ve pointed out recently:
