Jeb Bush, who’s been fighting to get to the double-digits in presidential primary polls for weeks now, may have finally scored success as a just-released survey from Emerson College shows the former Florida governor now in second place in New Hampshire, with 18 percent of support of likely Republican voters.
Donald Trump, meanwhile, still holds the lead with 35 percent of likely GOP primary voters, the Hill reported.
Next in line: Ohio’s John Kasich, with 14 percent, Sen. Marco Rubio, 9 percent; Sen. Ted Cruz, 8 percent and Gov. Chris Christie, 5 percent.
Emerson’s poll found Trump’s endorsement by Sarah Palin slightly dampened his favor with some Republican voters in the state. Meanwhile, Bush has come on strong with campaign ads.
“Bush’s performance may have been helped by the heavy spending on attack ads by his Super PAC, Right to Rise USA,” said Marion Kinosian, a junior political communications major, on the Emerson College poll press release.
The survey’s hardly scientific. It included phone calls to 373 likely Republican voters over a two-day period, and touts a margin of error of 5 percentage points.
