Donald Trump ripped into European leaders on Tuesday for not having the foresight to follow his lead on the Muslim refugee crisis.
The Republican front-runner appeared on Michael Savage’s “Savage Nation” for a wide-ranging interview on everything from Democrat candidate Bernie Sanders’ tax plan to predictions of unifying the Republican Party. The billionaire saved harsh criticism, however, for Europe’s attempt to absorb millions of Muslim refugees from the Middle East and North Africa.

“Look what’s happening to Germany. Look what’s happening to Brussels. … I don’t know what’s wrong with their leaders. At least we’re not the only ones that have terrible leaders. What’s wrong with their leaders? They’re destroying Europe,” Trump said.
Europe’s embrace of Muslim refugees has resulted in a spike in sexual attacks and other forms of violence over the past year. High-profile sexual assaults have already occurred in Austria, Finland, France, Germany, Sweden and Switzerland.
Germany has particularly struggled to deal with its migrants. Over 100 seemingly coordinated assaults by Muslim men in Cologne, Germany, on New Year’s Eve overwhelmed police. Similar attacks happened in Bielefeld, Duesseldorf, Frankfurt, Hamburg and Stuttgart, but national media outlets refused to cover the scandal for days.
Trump told Savage that he would not duplicate Chancellor Angela Merkel’s mistake of inviting 1.1 million migrants into Germany over the last year. President Obama’s plan is for the U.S. to accept 10,000 Syrians in 2016 and up to 100,000 from any country by the end of 2017.
“I’m going to send them back. They have to go back. We have no idea where these people came from,” Trump said. “They’re young, they’re strong, and in many cases their men. When you look at the migratory lines, when you look at the big migration, there are so many men. So many strong men. Why aren’t they back fighting for their country? We have no idea where they come from. We have to send them back. We have no choice. We have a country that’s a mess.”
The billionaire, who has led his Republican rivals since August, has repeatedly called for a freeze on Muslim immigration until a coherent and effective strategy for dealing with Islamic extremists becomes official U.S. policy.

“We’re looking for the next [Gen. George S.] Patton. We’re looking for the next [Gen.] Douglas MacArthur. When you look at West Point, Annapolis and the Air Force Academy we have unbelievably smart, tough cookies in there. We’re not using them,” Trump told Savage regarding one aspect of President Obama’s anti-terror policy.
Savage asked if a Trump administration would consider Arkansas Sen. Tom Cotton as his Defense Secretary, to which Trump replied, “I think it makes sense. When you’re dealing with the military you should certainly have a military person.”
Cotton is a war veteran who deployed to Baghdad as a platoon leader with the 101st Airborne Division in 2006. He also deployed to Afghanistan in 2008.
“We now need a toughness and we need a competence or we’re not going to have a country left,” Trump said.
Three recent Iowa polls from CNN/ORC and Fox News show Trump may have a chance to prove his toughness – he possesses an 11-point lead over his competitors.
“If Donald wins Iowa, he right now has a substantial lead in New Hampshire, if he went on to win New Hampshire as well, there is a very good chance he could be unstoppable and be our nominee,” said Sen. Ted Cruz in a recent video obtained by the Christian Broadcasting Network and the Brody File, WND reported Tuesday.
