Walmart spokesman Randy Hargrove issued an apology on behalf of the company for a local store’s decision to bake a cake in the form of an ISIS flag, while denying the same customer one with a frosted Confederate flag.
The Daily Caller reported Walmart spokesman Hargrove wrote in an email with this: “We made the decision to stop selling Confederate flag related items promoting the flag’s image. For that reason we did not make the cake. [The customer] brought in the other image of ISIS and really, what happened, was our associate didn’t recognize what that image was and what it meant or it wouldn’t have been made.”
The issue started when a local resident, Chuck Netzhammer, tried to buy a Confederate flag-themed cake at his Slidell, Louisiana, Walmart store but was denied.
“Y’ll would do it,” he said, in a video he posted on YouTube, as WND previously reported. “I went back yesterday and managed to get the ISIS battle flag” on the cake instead.
His video then cuts to the ISIS battle flag cake he was able to obtain, as well as to the rejection letter Walmart gave him for his Confederate flag cake rquest.
He asks in the video: “Walmart, can you please explain why you’re alientaing Southern Americans with this trash that you allow to be sold at your store, while at the same point Confederate flag memorabilia is not allowed?”
