Deadline looming to sign up to ascend the heights to Jerusalem

For centuries, Jews dreamed of returning to the city of Jerusalem, the city beloved of God and the symbol of their triumphant return to the Promised Land. “Next year in Jerusalem” was the cry of generations of Jews.

Christians also pictured Jerusalem as the center of the world, the most important location on Earth. Even in medieval times, Christians would create world maps with Jerusalem at the center.

Yet for most people, the thought of actually seeing Jerusalem was simply a fantasy. Jews wandered the earth in exile, Christians were driven out of the Middle East following the end of the Crusades. For most of Western history, seeing Jerusalem was as unlikely as traveling to the moon.

Not anymore. Israel has returned to claim the inheritance God promised. And the 2016 WND Israel Tour will feature an awe-inspiring journey to Jerusalem itself.

But your opportunity to take part in this pilgrimage won’t last much longer. Registration and deposits for the tour must be completed by June 10.

“One of the most intense, breathtaking, profound, exciting and ‘beyond’ of experiences one can ever have is to go up the mountains and see for the first time the Holy City of Jerusalem,” said Messianic rabbi Jonathan Cahn. “And even if one has seen it before, it still always seems as if the first time one is beholding it. For that reason, as we plan out the upcoming pilgrimage to Israel we seek as always to make this moment as special as possible.

“The Bible says that there is no place on earth like Jerusalem. Jerusalem is the City of God, the City of Peace, the Eternal City, and the Holy City. The love that God has for Jerusalem and the love Messiah has for Jerusalem is hard to fathom. Messiah actually wept for it. It’s the city of our salvation, where Messiah died for us, and where He rose. The Psalm declares, ‘Beautiful for situation, the joy of the whole earth, is Mount Zion.’ The rabbis write that God gave to the world ten measures of beauty, nine of them to Jerusalem.”

Jonathan Cahn is best known the author of “The Harbinger,” the New York Times bestseller that captured the imagination of the nation. He heads the world’s largest Messianic congregation in the world at The Jerusalem Center and is widely admired for his series of Scriptural teachings, many of which are now available on DVD. He also made the New York Times bestseller list again with his book the “Mystery of the Shemitah” and is the inspiration for the films “The Isaiah 9:10 Judgment” and “The Harbinger Man.”

Cahn will be leading this unique tour through Israel, providing spiritual instruction along the way. He urged potential guests not to miss this opportunity, as the emotional impact of simply seeing the city cannot be overestimated.

“In terms of natural resources, Jerusalem doesn’t have much, not what most of the world’s major cities have – no great natural resources, no great riches, and no great strategic or military value – just a city on mountain rocks in between pasture land and desert,” he commented. “But there’s something about it, something unlike any other place in the world, something you can’t quite put your finger on, but there’s no place like it on earth. It’s the City of God.”

By joining the 2016 WND Tour, Cahn explained, guests will be joining a pattern of pilgrimage that stretches back over millennia. Indeed, they will be participating in their own biblical epic.

“Some of the Psalms are called ‘Songs of Ascents,’” he said. “That’s because they were to be sung on the way to Jerusalem. Since Jerusalem is situated on the mountains, the only way you can get there is by going up, in a journey of an ascent. In Hebrew, any journey to Jerusalem is called an ‘Aliyah,’ a journey of ascending. So to go on the pilgrimage to Israel is also to be on an Aliyah. It all reaches its crescendo as we head to Jerusalem. And the day of journeying to Jerusalem is itself an Aliyah.”

Cahn described the journey pilgrims will take.

“It begins with a desert safari in the wilderness of Israel,” he said. “Then we go to Masada, the ancient fortress that marks Israel’s last stand against the Romans. Then we swim in the waters of the Dead Sea. This is the lowest place on the planet. So the Scriptures speak of ascending the ‘Holy Hill of God.’ This was the Holy Hill. And so the perfect place to begin the Aliyah, the ascending journey.”

The ascent participants in the tour will experience is both a spiritual and physical ascent, building to a spectacular climax.

“It usually ends up being around sunset as the buses make their way up the mountains,” Cahn recalled. “As they go, each bus has worship music playing focused on Jerusalem. As you go, you can sense the continual ascent, higher and higher, as the expectation also rises.

“And then after passing over one of the mountains, as in a sudden vision, you see the Holy City, on top of Mount Moriah, illumined in gold, and centered on the golden light of the Temple Mount. We get out of the bus, stand on one of the overlooks of Mount Scopus, and behold the center of the world, the city of our salvation, the Holy City.”

Cahn said everyone who participates in this feels a great sense of completion.

“Some stand in silence in awe, others cry, others praise God. You’ve completed the Aliyah. You’re finally home.”

Cahn promises those who participate in this incredible journey will never be the same again. But the opportunity to join this once in a lifetime pilgrimage is running out. When June 10 arrives, it will have vanished entirely.
