Hillary deals with dishonesty question with shrug

Hillary Clinton

Hillary Clinton

Democratic primary contender Hillary Clinton, who’s presumptive candidate status has been suffering in the face of an advancing Sen. Bernie Sanders, was asked by a student-age voter during CNN’s sponsored town hall about her moral compass – specifically, about her failure to present a honest front.

“I’ve heard from quite a few people my age that say you’re dishonest,” said the student, who described himself as a supporter of Sanders, Business Insider reported.

And Clinton’s reply?

She doesn’t worry about it.

First, she said she was “totally happy to see young people involved in any way” in the political process.

Then, she dismissed the dishonesty claims as malarkey.

“I’ve been around a long time, people have thrown all kinds of things at me,” Clinton said, Business Insider reported. “I can’t keep up with it. They come up with these outlandish things, they make these charges. I just keep going forward because there’s nothing to it. They throw all this stuff at me and I am still standing.”

And finally, she told the young voter that he ought not to read too much into these types of charges – that once he had more experience in the political process, he would see it’s simply how the game’s played.

Just in time for the 2016 election, hear Hillary Clinton say she would NOT run for president, in “Hillary Unhinged” by Thomas Kuiper

“But if you’re new to politics,” she said, “and this is the first time you’ve really paid attention, you go, ‘Oh my gosh, look at all of this.’ And you have to say to yourself, ‘Why are they throwing all of that?’ I’ll tell you why. I’ve been on the frontlines of change and progress since I was your age. I have been fighting to give kids and women and the people who have been left out and left behind the chance to make the most of their own lives.”

Clinton’s polls numbers put her in a tight race with Sanders, a self-described socialist, for weeks due in part, to the perception among voters she is less-than-honest. Part of that perception has been advanced with her long-running email server scandal and the fact investigators have recently discovered she stored and perhaps shared classified documents on this unsecure server, a matter that could lead to her criminal indictment.
