Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has been indicted by a grand jury on various felony accusations, and may surrender on Monday for fingerprinting and booking, right after the judge unseals his charges for public scrutiny.
WFAA reported the charges will be unsealed about noon, and Paxton could shortly after head to any of the state’s 254 jails for booking.
He faces multimple felony accusations. A grand jury indicted him on two counts of first-degree felony securities fraud and one count of third-degree felony failure to register with the state securities board.
The securities fraud charge stems from Paxton’s reported relationship with a McKinney-based company, Servergy, that’s been under investigation by the Securities and Exchange Commission. A conviction on that count could land Paxton in prison up to 99 years, WFAA reported.
The third-degree felony, meanwhile, carries a penalty of up to 10 years in prison.
Paxton served in the state legislature before being sworn in as attorney general in January. The charges stem from his time in the legislature.
