Sowing division is ‘the hackneyed policy of the gossips of every society’

The captured mainstream media has taken a new tack in its war to take out Donald Trump for the establishment and the oligarchs.

It’s an old ploy being dusted off for a new use. It has long been employed – to some success — against conservatives.

Trump is not a conservative… not by a long shot. But he apparently terrifies the establishment and the status quo because both Republicans and Democrats are teaming up to take him out. And their latest weapon of choice is the charge of racism.

The barrage started with the non-story that Trump didn’t denounce former Ku Klux Kan member David Duke with enough fervor to suit the establishment (a stupid notion in its own right). When that assault failed to gain traction, the establishment media (see here, here, here, here, herehere, here, here, and here) and a host of establishment politicians, from socialist New York Mayor Bill de Blasio to Hillary Clinton to Bernie Sanders to House Speaker Paul Ryan began making the charge themselves. And the establishment’s second-favorite meme du jour is to call Trump supporters “racists.”

This is a massive propaganda ploy by the establishment. Calling someone or something racist is a tactic designed to marginalize the person or thing and make others fearful of being made to appear guilty of racism by association with the person or thing thus perceived.

Captured media and the establishment politicians are desperate to preserve their gravy train and are sowing discord by attempting to set the races against one another and blaming Trump for it. The protest at the Trump rally in Chicago was an astroturf “rally” of professional agitators sent specifically to try and instigate an incident which could be blamed on Trump in a kind of false-flag event.

Thomas Jefferson warned of such abuses by the press. He had much to say about the press over the years. He wrote:

To divide those by lying tales whom truths cannot divide, is the hackneyed policy of the gossips of every society.

And :

I deplore… the putrid state into which our newspapers have passed and the malignity, the vulgarity, and mendacious spirit of those who write for them… These ordures are rapidly depraving the public taste and lessening its relish for sound food. As vehicles of information and a curb on our funtionaries, they have rendered themselves useless by forfeiting all title to belief… This has, in a great degree, been produced by the violence and malignity of party spirit.

And:

Nothing can now be believed which is seen in a newspaper. Truth itself becomes suspicious by being put into that polluted vehicle. The real extent of this state of misinformation is known only to those who are in situations to confront facts within their knowledge with the lies of the day.

And:

A coalition of sentiments is not for the interest of printers. They, like the clergy, live by the zeal they can kindle and the schisms they can create. It is contest of opinion in politics as well as religion which makes us take great interest in them and bestow our money liberally on those who furnish aliment to our appetite… So the printers can never leave us in a state of perfect rest and union of opinion. They would be no longer useful and would have to go to the plough.

You may indeed believe that Trump’s promises to curb illegal immigration by building a wall and halting importation of Muslims are being done with racist intentions (i.e. Prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on the belief that one’s own race is superior — Oxford Dictionaries). But if you do, be sure it’s because there is evidence that this is so and not because dozens of publications and few self-serving politicians tell you it is so.

Trump is drawing not just the “white privilege” crowd, but blacks and Hispanics in great numbers as well. That would seem an unusual accomplishment for a racist.
