There are more Islamic terrorists than ever before

The Obama administration may refuse to admit that the threat of Islamic terror is on the rise but a new book illustrates just how massively militant Islam is threatening the modern world.

According to the London Center of Policy Research’s “Encyclopedia of Militant Islam,” ISIS is one of 44 major Islamic terror organizations gaining power throughout the world.

“There are more militant Islamic groups now than ever before in history,” the book reveals.

ISIS receives the most attention because it is the best funded group at the moment— but the lesser-known groups are by no means less of a threat. According to the book’s authors, ISIS currently holds assets totaling more than $2 billion and is able to pay fighters so well that they are uninterested in joining other militant groups.

The Washington Examiner’s Paul Bedard describes the new publication as “a grim map of the Islamic terror groups around the world.”

In addition to the 44 terror groups listed in the book, its authors say there are also dozens of little-known Islamic extremist offshoots being inspired by the carnage caused by the bigger organizations.

“Militant Islam is not confined to the Middle East but is a truly international movement that has engaged in open warfare against peoples, states and cultures all over the world,” says a description of the book on Amazon.

And while the authors concede that Islamic terror causes the most harm in Muslim nations, they say Western officials should abandon policies of “naiveté” when it comes to addressing the jihadist threat.

“Major terrorist attacks worldwide tend to be committed by Islamic extremists,” they write, citing a University of Maryland database. “The surge of global terrorism is fueled by Islamist extremism.”
