Permanent victims

Anna Alaburda is a victim. Anna Alaburda feels like she was cheated out of $150,000; and she wants the State of California to make the cheaters pay.

The cheaters, according to a lawsuit Alaburda filed in a San Diego court, are the people of the Thomas Jefferson School of Law. According to Alaburda’s complaint, her failure to land a high-paying job on the business side of the briefcase constitutes a fraud perpetrated on her by the school. She claims that the school fudged their graduate employment rates with low-level or even non-legal jobs in order to entice her to gamble 150 large on finding a BMW-driving gig after she grabbed her diploma. Now, years later, she’s still BMW-less, but still carrying an enormous amount of debt; and she wants Thomas Jefferson School of Law to cover her tab.

The fact that an aspiring lawyer didn’t read the fine print on her law school admission forms is schadenfreude-a-licious. But it gets better; Alaburda was offered — and turned down — a $60,000/year offer from a law firm not long after she graduated. She contends that she sent out nearly 150 resumes, and her dream job was “less favorable than non-law-related jobs that were available.” The poor dear is actually suing her law school because not only was she too good for a measly 60 grand, but she was too good for significantly more. Those bastards made her so marketable, it overwhelmed her.

Melissa Click is a victim, too. In the wake of her wild-eyed Stalin impression on the campus of the University of Missouri, Click got the ax recently. And she is making a ton of racket before she exits in disgrace. Said Click this week:

“[T]he Curators are punishing me for standing with students who have drawn attention to the issue of overt racism at the University of Missouri.”

It’s worth noting that prior to her self-inflicted infamy, Click was a communications professor.

Alaburda and Click are hardly outliers. And colleges, while hotbeds of self-righteous offense-taking, are hardly lonely outposts of outrage. Tales of the easily aggrieved throwing ear-splitting tantrums to get their way are spreading like a virulent fungus. In some cases, like Ms. Alaburda’s, the crime is money: they don’t have enough, and want someone with more to fork it over, posthaste. Joining Alaburda in that category are people who:

  • Borrowed six figures to get a “Gender Studies” degree, and are now slinging lattes.
  • Think getting orders wrong at the drive-thru should be worth $15/hour.
  • Used a protest over so-called “racism” to upgrade their flat screen TV, or restock the beer cooler.
  • Profess to be “Feelin’ the Bern” this year.

In other cases, the crime is subtler. People like Click and the “protesters” she was violently protecting from a “microaggression” in their “safe space” are motivated by more Orwellian designs. Simple disagreement is enough to get them to demand the offender be sent to the Ministry of Love. Echoing Click’s request for “some muscle over here” are people who:

  • Think “microaggressions” are an actual thing.
  • Demand a “safe space” rather than hear ideas other than the ones they just “learned” in “class.”
  • Think that having a vagina is “Presidential,” and feel compelled to share that with us.
  • Cheer wildly for every filth-spewing left wing “comedian” who plays the student union, but protest violently when a conservative ventures too close to campus.
  • Think “global warming” is an actual thing.
  • Think that denying “global warming” should be a civil – or even criminal – offense.
  • “Win” debates by using “racism” and/or “sexism” as a punctuation mark.

Bad news, kids: virtually none of you are real victims. Alaburda turned down 60K/yr straight out of law school. That’s stupid; and stupid only pays if you’re a Kardashian. I learned pretty early on that the New York Rangers weren’t going to need my services. I didn’t sue the NHL.

Click practically walked herself out the door. Teachers who hit kids — even in college, where some of them probably need it — lose their jobs. Even a communications professor should have learned that somewhere along the line.

Don’t mistake this for some “these kids today” rant. Hell, President Barack Obama hasn’t figured any of this out yet, and he’s older than I am. Hillary Clinton’s entire presidential campaign is predicated on her victimhood; and she’s almost older than Obama and me combined.

If you want to experience life wandering through life demanding to be wrapped in protective bubbles at someone else’s expense, spend some quality time in one of the fine American cities, like Detroit or Baltimore, which liberals have reduced to virtual rubble piles. And if that doesn’t wake you up to the realities of the world in which the perpetually “microaggressed” are granted all the “safe spaces” money can be, then hop on a flight to Cuba or Venezuela, and talk to a dissident; if you can find one.
