Hillary Clinton, the Democratic Party’s front-runner candidate for president, was captured in a hot microphone moment wondering why the heck New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie would want to endorse Donald Trump.
“Why did he support him?” Clinton said, during a moment between on-camera discussions with MSNBC host Chris Matthews that she apparently thought was one-on-one, the Washington Post reported.
And when Matthews said those who support Trump do so because they “want a future” in politics, Clinton shot back: “Did he have a debt?”
Matthews said Christie really doesn’t have anywhere to go in New Jersey politics because newly elected Sen. Cory Booker still has years to serve on his term.
Clinton, just a few moments earlier – but also unaware her comments were being captured on the microphone – had sent out a scolding message to the press about the near-constant coverage of Trump.
“You guys can’t stop covering him,” she said, the Washington Post reported. “He is a dangerous presence.”
Clinton also said of the massive media coverage on Trump: “It’s just like candy by the bushel.”
Matthews responded by saying “nobody can tell what people want to watch” but that “they laugh at him.”
