GOP primary results: All eyes on Ohio, Florida

It’s a moment of truth in the Republican race for the White House: If Donald Trump sweeps Tuesday’s primaries, it may be all but impossible to stop the GOP kingpin’s march to the nomination.

Meanwhile, John Kasich and Marco Rubio are fighting for their political lives in their home states of Ohio and Florida. If Trump takes winner-take-all Ohio, the victory may force Kasich out of the race, as Kasich has said he will suspend his campaign.

Rubio, on the other hand, has indicated a loss of his home state – which is looking increasingly likely for the Florida senator – will not prompt him to officially withdraw from the presidential race.

According to the RealClearPolitics average, Trump is almost tied with Kasich in Ohio and leading Rubio in Florida by nearly 20 points.

On Tuesday, Rubio called those polls “way out of whack” and “absurd.”

But former House Speaker Newt Gingrich said Tuesday if Trump wins Florida, the GOP “won’t be able to stop him.”

“If Trump gets big numbers in Florida, you’re not going to be able to stop him,” Gingrich told Breitbart. “You’ll just tear the party apart.”

What do YOU think? Who was the big winner in Tuesday’s primary elections? Sound off in today’s WND poll.

Kasich’s Ohio campaign has been heating up in recent days, and he appeared at more than 10 events before Tuesday evening’s primary.

Former presidential candidate Mitt Romney stumped for Kasich Monday, telling a crowd in North Canton, Ohio: “You look at this guy and unlike the other people running, he has a real track record. He has the kind of record that you want in Washington. That’s why I’m convinced you’re going to do the right thing tomorrow – agreed?”

Meanwhile, Cruz is hoping to secure enough delegates to make his case that only he can deny Trump the GOP nomination.

According to

There are 358 GOP delegates up for grabs Tuesday.

To win the nomination, a Republican candidate must secure 1,237 delegates, and 1,392 are still available.

The next delegate-rich states are Arizona (58 delegates), Utah (40), Wisconsin (42) and New York (95).
