U.S. airman killed in freefall training

One airman died and another was injured in a freefall training mission.

One airman is dead and another in critical condition from a freefall training mishap at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida.

Air Force Special Operations Command said both airmen were taking part in the same parachute training mission, the Associated Press reported. The cause of the incident is under investigation.

Military officials haven’t released the names of the airmen involved.

The Command sent condolences to the families of the victims, the Pensacola News Journal reported.
