Donald Trump
Donald Trump, the Republican Party’s front-runner in the primary for president, told supporters at a rally in Maryland they shouldn’t expect him to stay around if he loses the race – that he’d more than likely fade completely from the public stage.
“They fight like hell for six months,” he said, speaking of the vicious rhetoric that marks a presidential campaign trail, the Hill reported, “and they’re saying horrible things, the worst things you can imagine. And then one of them loses, one of them wins.”
And then?
“And the one who loses says, ‘I just want to congratulate my opponent,’” Trump went on, the news outlet reported. “‘He is a brilliant man, he’ll be a great governor or president or whatever.’”
But that’s not the way Trump plays, he said.
“I’m not sure you’re ever going to see me there,” he said. “I don’t think I’m going to lose, but if I do, I don’t think you’re ever going to see me again, folks. I think I’ll got to Turnberry and play golf or something.”
He then spoke of how some winning candidates actually brought the losers into their camp and gave them Cabinet positions – but that’s not how he would do it.
“That’s how they get rid of them,” Trump said.
Trump also doubled down on his belief he would win the nomination, and predicted a five-state sweep this Tuesday.
