Hate stats defile another lie

America’s patriarchal society makes it more difficult for women to achieve educational goals and find high paying jobs. That’s a favorite argument of social justice warriors and feminists. But it isn’t true.

According to figures out earlier this month from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the truth is that women are actually 31 percent more likely to have earned a college degree by age 29 than their male peers.

The BLS came to this conclusion after examining education and employment stats for 9,000 young men and women born between 1980 and 1984.

“In total, 72 percent of women had either attended some college or received a bachelor’s degree, compared with 63 percent of men,” says the BLS report.

“In addition to being more likely to attend college, women were more likely to have finished their college degree,” the report continues. “Of the 72 percent of women who started college, 47 percent received a bachelor’s degree by age 29. In comparison, of the 63 percent of men who started college, 41 percent had received a bachelor’s degree.”

It also appears that women with college degrees had a better chance of maintaining employment than their similarly–educated male counterparts.

From the report: “Women with a bachelor’s degree and higher spent a larger proportion of weeks employed than did similarly educated men (79 percent versus 75 percent) and less time not in the labor force (18 percent versus 22 percent). The percentage of weeks worked increased for women with each higher level of educational attainment, while men with a bachelor’s degree actually spent fewer weeks employed than men with some college or an associate degree (75 percent versus 79 percent).”
