Hillary Clinton’s right hand woman, Huma Abedin, said the court-ordered release of State Department emails that contain communication with her name on it is a “terrifying” situation to ponder, and that she’s “mortified” to contemplate what’s in them.
“It’s something I can’t really think about, but I can’t even imagine what’s in those emails,” Abedin said, during an interview on the “Call Your Girlfriend” podcast. “But I’m sure I would probably be mortified. I have no idea. I haven’t read any of them.”
Her comments came in context of discussing the thousands of emails released by the State Department, under court order, of Clinton’s communications while serving as secretary of State, and while using a home-based private email server and system to conduct public business. The FBI, meanwhile, has launched an investigation to determine what laws Clinton may have violated.
Abedin was asked specifically about communications in which she tried to coach Clinton about using a secure fax machine, Politico reported. She said the back-and-forth displayed “a little bit of her frustration because it wasn’t working, and my frustration that she couldn’t figure it out or whatever it was. It wasn’t unusual when secure faxes were coming through that we had some challenges.”
