Paul Ryan’s home border fence outed as hypocritical

Breitbart News, in a photo spread of Speaker Paul Ryan’s Wisconsin home, pointed out in a not-so-subtle way the perceived hypocrisy of the legislative leader’s support for a spending bill that failed to fund a promised 700-mile border fence, and the simultaneous existence of a security fence around his own property, complete with personal guard.

The promised border security Breitbart referred to comes by way of the 2006 Secure Fence Act that would have put a double-layer fence along a 700-mile stretch of border property. The $1.1 trillion omnibus bill passed in Congress that was pressed by President Obama does not contain funding for this decades-old measure, the news outlet said,=.

But Ryan’s private property back in Wisconsin has plenty of fencing, according to photographs posted within the news story.

As Breitbart’s Julia Hahn put it: “Ryan’s home is surrounded by a tall border fence reinforced by equally high bushes – ensuring both privacy and security. Moreover, the fence is manned by an on-duty agent who guards his property’s perimeter. Upon even the slightest appearance of any unusual activity – such as a 5’2″ female taking a photograph of the fence – Ryan’s border agent will deploy into action to ensure the perimeter’s sovereignty.”

Breitbart then pointed to the gutting of the Secure Fence Act that has taken place since its passage, resulting in the failure to construct the promised fencing, and the subsquent funding that was included in this current $1.1 trillion omnibus spending plan for numerous “immigration programs that benefit foreign nationals.” Among those programs: Federal grant dollars for sanctuary cities, as well as money for the resettlement of refugees into America, Breitbart said.

Yet the bill “does not require an allotment of funds be spent on the completion of the 700-mile-long fence that the American voters were promised,” Hahn wrote.

The news organization wasn’t the only one to notice the discrepancy between what open border advocates talk and what they personally walk.

Sen. Jeff Sessions, Breitbart reported, has spoken in critical tones about Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg who publicly advocates for amnesty-like provisions and an open border atmosphere, yet surrounds his properties with $30 million worth of fencing and security provisions.

“Well, the ‘masters of the universe’ are very fond of open borders as long as these open borders don’t extend to their gated compounds and fenced-off estates,” Sessions previously said, Breitbart reported.

And as Hahn summarized: “Ryan’s fence ensures that no refugees will be able to enter his property without his permission – even as U.S. communities are not able to make any such restrictions.”
