George Pataki. former governor of New York, announced he was dropping his bid for the presidency in a video released on NBC stations in Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina.

The Republican’s departure from the race isn’t exactly a surprise; his poll numbers stayed stubbornly below the 1 percent mark since he announced. He didn’t endorse another candidate in his video ad, but did say it’s important to elect the “right” person for president.

“While [this] is the end of my journey for the White House, as a I suspend my campaign for president, I’m confident we can elect the right person, someone who can bring us togheter and understands that politicians, including the president, must be the people’s servant and not their master.”

Pataki then tapped into leading candidate Donald Trump’s campaign slogan, referencing the need to “make America great again,” however, as NPR reported.

“If we’re truly going to make America great again, we need to elect a president who will do three things: confront and defeat radical Islam, shrink the size and power of Washington and unite us again in our belief in this great country,” Pataki said.

Pataki joined the race for the White House in May but has never polled high enough to make it to the main stage of Republican debates.
