John Walsh, known on national television as an aggressive pursuer of criminals, dropped his “America’s Most Wanted” role for a few minutes to dish on presidential hopeful Donald Trump, someone he described as a friend – and a “crazy bastard,” he said.
Walsh was in Washington a few days ago to promote his new spokesman role with the Justice Network, a media outlet that showcases real crime investigations, the Daily Beast. And when asked about Trump and that candidate’s political leanings, particularly on illegal immigration, Walsh said: He’s a great guy, albeit wrong on immigration policy.
“[He is] so wrong on the immigration problem,” Walsh said, the Daily Beast reported. “He is one crazy bastard.”
Walsh then characterized his relationship with Trump as one of friendship.
“He’s a friend of mine,” he said, “and whatever you think of Donald, he’s done a lot of charitable things in his life. He did a lot of fundraising for the center [Center for Missing and Exploited Children].”
Walsh founded the center after his 7-year-old son, Adam, was kidnapped from a Hollywood, Florida, shopping mall.
“I call him a crazy bastard, but he got people thinking,” Walsh said, of his friend. “When I see him, I’m going to tell him this country would not operate [without immigrants]. I’m in the horse world. I can’t get an American kid to work in my barn six days a week and muck stalls … Our crops, the fruit would rot on the vine. [Trump] wants to send [illegals] in a Holocaust-type movement across the border. It is so ridiculous. His solutions are so outlandish, it’s embarrassing.”
