Rick Santorum set to seek presidency

Former Sen. Rick Santorm is set to announce his run for the presidency Wednesday at a manufacturing plant in Pennsylvania.

He joins an already crowded Republican field that includes Sens. Ted Cruz, Rand Paul and Marco Rubio; former Gov. Mike Huckabee, former neurosurgeon Ben Carson, and former business executive Carly Fiorina. Others likely or rumored to join the race: Gov. Scott Walker, business millionair Donald Trump, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, former Texas Gov. Rick Perry, Sen. Lindsey Graham and Gov. Bobby Jindal.

Santorum, 57, previously ran for the presidency on a conservative Christian platform and shocked political watchers by winning the Iowa party caucuses over former Massachusetts gov. Mitt Romney. He then won another 10 state caucuses and primaries, before Romney’s 2012 campaign took off and overcame opposition.
