World leaders including American President Barack Obama have burned through hundreds of thousands of gallons of jet fuel to converge on Paris to talk up global warming, talk down developed nations that have built the world’s best transportation, communication and commerce systems on energy from fossil fuels and cast as “deniers” those who actually have looked at the science and found there’s no problem to address.
So what is Obama’s personal fundraising arm, barackobama.com, also known as “Organizing for America,” fretting about?
Sen. James Inhofe.
He’s the Oklahoma senator who warned the world years ago about the scam of global warming.
And it’s his book, “The Greatest Hoax: How the Global Warming Conspiracy Threatens Your Future,” that is gaining attention all over again as Obama and other world leaders plot to impose new regulations – and likely taxes – in the name of fighting “climate change.”
That global warming, now recast by political activists as “climate change”‘ since the world isn’t getting any warmer, is a tenuous idea at best is clear.
Studies and faces are abundant, but most importantly several individuals who have looked at them have confirmed that. Just months ago, Dr. Ivar Giaever, a Nobel Prize-Winner for physics in 1973, said, “I would say that basically global warming is a non-problem.”
He’s a former professor at the School of Engineering and School of Science Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and received the 1973 physics Nobel for his work on quantum tunneling.
Just weeks ago, a survey revealed that the politicians advocating for global warming alarmism are out on a limb, with 97 percent of Americans disbelieving that the issue is a big deal.
A November Fox News poll of more than 1,000 registered voters found that only 3 percent listed “climate change” as the most important issue facing the country today. Even among Democrats, only 6 percent listed global warming as their top concern.
And only a short time earlier, Harold Warren Lewis, a respected physicist who had previously advised both the U.S. government and the Pentagon, shocked his peers when he disseminated his letter of resignation from the American Physical Society.
Lewis accused the American Physical Society of supporting “the global warming scam, with the trillions of dollars driving it that has corrupted so many scientists.”
They are among a multitude of scientists, actually. Well-known scientist Art Robinson has spearheaded The Petition Project, which to date has gathered the signatures of 31,487 scientists who agree that there is “no convincing scientific evidence that human release of carbon dioxide, methane, or other greenhouse gases is causing or will, in the foreseeable future, cause catastrophic heating of the Earth’s atmosphere and disruption of the Earth’s climate.”
They say, “Moreover, there is substantial scientific evidence that increases in atmospheric carbon dioxide produce many beneficial effects upon the natural plan and animal environments of the Earth.”
But on Tuesday, Jack Shapiro, of Organizing for Action, dispatched an email pleading for money that said it’s “embarrassing, and it’s unacceptable” that there are those who won’t adopt the president’s belief about “climate change.”
“President Obama is committed to addressing this problem, leading on the international stage, and reaching an ambitious global agreement – but the deniers in Congress are trying everything they can to derail it. They’ve already taken some extreme steps,” Shapiro warned.
“Many have voted against the Clean Power Plan – America’s commitment to cut our own carbon pollution. Some have even called foreign embassies to tell them they are being misled by the Obama administration. Senator Jim Inhofe, famous for throwing a snowball onto the Senate floor to deny climate change, has even said he might show up in Paris to be a ‘one-man truth squad’,” he wrote.
The site operators describe themselves as community organizing volunteers – the profession Obama held when he lived in Chicago early in his career. They plead repeatedly for money, and their site features an image of a sign that states: “Mr. President, what will you do for woman suffrage?”
They call Obama, who this week linked global warming to terrorism, the “Organizer-in-Chief.”
The Paris meeting, which is costing U.S. taxpayers nearly $2 million and had representatives from 195 nations burn “300,000 tons of carbon dioxide,” prompted GOP candidates to react to Obama’s claims.
GOP presidential candidate Carly Fiorina called Obama “delusional,” GOP candidate Gov. Chris Christie said his comments were “insulting” and Donald Trump called it a “ridiculous situation.”
Inhofe, meanwhile, has well earned his bull’s-eye from global warming alarmists.
Just one chapter of his book, “The Greatest Hoax: How the Global Warming Conspiracy Threatens Your Future,” reveals not just the political influences behind global warming, but how the issue is a scandal.
On their website, Obama’s fundraisers cite the work of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, yet Inhofe reveals how that group was caught up in one of the biggest scandals ever.
“Climategate revealed leaked emails from the world’s top climate scientists at the University East Anglia’s Climactic Research Unit, many of whom had been lead authors of the IPCC reports and were intimately involved in writing and editing the IPCC’s science assessments,” Inhofe wrote. “My Senate report showed that many of these scientists may be obstructing the release of information that was contrary to their ‘consensus’ claims; may be manipulating data using flawed climate models to reach preconceived conclusions; may be pressuring journal editors not to publish work questioning the ‘consensus’; and assuming activist roles to influence the political process.”
Climategate was the release of a series of emails involving top IPCC and other scientists in which they confessed there was no more global warming and they couldn’t explain it.
“Contrary to their repeated public assertions that the ‘science is settled,’” Inhofe wrote, “the emails show climate scientists were arguing over critical issues, questioning key methods and statistical techniques, expressing concerns about historical periods (such as whether the Medieval Warming Period [MWP] was global in extent) and doubting whether there is ‘consensus’ on the causes and the extent of climate change.”
Inhofe blasted the scientists for turning their scientific inquiry into “activism.”
One example, he said, was when Phil Jones of the CRU said, “I’ve just completed Mike’s Nature trick of adding in the real temps to each series for the last 20 years (i.e. from 1980 onwards) and from 1961 for Keith’s to hide the decline.”
“Of course, he means hide the decline in temperatures, which caused another scientist, Kevin Trenberth, to write: ‘The fact is we can’t account for the lack of warming, and it’s a travesty that we can’t’,” Inhofe documented.
The idea marches on, however, including for some two dozen scientists with major universities who suggested to Obama that he use RICO laws to prosecute opponents who deny mankind is causing catastrophic changes in the climate.
That’s the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act, which can put people in jail.
In a letter addressed to Obama, Attorney General Loretta Lynch and Office of Science and Technology Policy Director John Holdren, the scientists said they “appreciate that you are making aggressive and imaginative use of the limited tools available to you in the face of a recalcitrant Congress.”
“One additional tool – recently proposed by Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse – is a RICO (Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act) investigation of corporations and other organizations that have knowingly deceived the American people about the risks of climate change, as a means to forestall America’s response to climate change,” they wrote, according to Politico.
However, blogger Steven Goddard at Real Science cited information from the National Snow and Ice Data Center in Boulder, Colorado, showing the Arctic ice mass is growing.
WND long has reported the predictions of an ice-free Arctic by scientists who believe mankind is causing global warming.
But in just last few winters, Cairo saw its first snow in 100 years. And Oregon, like several other states, reached its coldest temperature in 40 years. Chicago saw the coldest days ever recorded, and – as if to add finality to the trend – Antarctica reached the coldest temperature ever recorded anywhere on earth.
The holes in the theories that form the basis of ice-free Arctic forecasts are evident.
For example, London’s Independent newspaper declared at the turn of the millennium “Snowfalls are now just a thing of the past.” The report quoted David Viner, senior research scientist at the Climatic Research Unit of the University of East Anglia, long considered an authoritative resource for global warming research, saying snow would soon be “a very rare and exciting event” in Britain.
“Children just aren’t going to know what snow is,” he claimed at the time.
Carbon-credit entrepreneur Al Gore told an audience in a 2009 speech that “the entire north polar ice cap during some of the summer months could be completely ice-free within the next five to seven years.” And his 2006 documentary “An Inconvenient Truth” famously predicted increasing temperatures would cause earth’s oceans to rise by 20 feet, a claim many scientists say is utterly without rational basis.
See Gore:
A 2013 column by Mark Hertsgaard was headlined: “The End of the Arctic? Ocean Could be Ice Free by 2015.”
He wrote: “Say goodbye to polar bears and a whole lot of ice. New research suggests the Arctic Ocean could be ice-free by 2015, with devastating consequences for the world. Can it be stopped?”
Goddard also cited another of Gore’s predictions, that the “polar ice cap may disappear by 2014.”
Taking one more step back in time, the BBC said the Arctic summers would be ice-free by 2013.
Sierra Club Canada also said in 2013 that the Arctic sea ice would vanish that year.
