Donald Trump supporter and talk show host John Phillips told CNN that Donald Trump appears to be politically spiraling out of control so badly that it could kill his presidential hopes.
Phillips compared Trump’s past several days to the week-long orgy of drugs, hookers, food, and alcohol that killed comedian Chris Farley of Saturday Night Live, Tommy Boy, and Black Sheep fame at the age of 33.
“Over the last few days, I’m not surprised to see people running for the hills,” Phillips said on CNN.
“The last 72 hours for Donald Trump have been the political equivalent of Chris Farley’s final 72 hours on planet Earth.”
As Trump’s poll numbers continue to slide, some Republicans are discussing holding a political “intervention.”
“Look, Rudy Giuliani and Newt Gingrich say they’re planning an intervention. Sign me up,” Phillips added.
“I’ll bring Dr. Drew, the burlap sack and the station wagon, because this guy needs to get back on track.”
In Black Sheep, Farley played the maladroit brother of a gubernatorial candidate who, despite good intentions, continually found ways to damage the campaign. Most of the character’s trouble was the result of his speaking without thinking, a habit some voters might say is at the heart of Trump’s troubles as well.
