Terror-tied Pakistanis caught at Southern border

Two Pakistani men with ties to terrorism were apprehended at the U.S.-Mexico border in September, according to a new report, but it marked just the latest indication that jihadists are using the porous southern border to infiltrate the U.S.

Pakistan is considered one of many “special interest countries” by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, meaning it has a high concentration of either violent criminals or terrorists who could seek to enter the U.S. illegally.

Muhammad Azeem and Mukhtar Ahmad were two such men. The two Pakistanis were caught Sept. 20 by agents south of San Diego and just over the international border from Tijuana, the Washington Times reports.

Agents checked their identities through databases and found they were both extremely bad guys.

Ahmad was an associate of a known or suspected terrorist, while Azeem’s information had been shared by a foreign government for intelligence purposes, according to the Times.

Both men had been processed two months earlier by immigration officials in Panama, suggesting they took advantage of smuggling networks or other routes increasingly used by Central American illegal immigrants to sneak into the U.S., the Times reported.

It comes as lawmakers on Capitol Hill are increasingly worried about potential terrorists gaining entry to the U.S. through the border with Mexico or taking advantage of lax screening elsewhere in the immigration system – such as the refugee resettlement program.

The U.S. brings in 85,000 foreign refugees per year, approximately half of them coming from countries with active jihadist movements. Another 10,000 foreign nationals are granted asylum every year from Muslim-dominated countries. That’s about 45,000 potentially dangerous immigrants just between those two programs alone. That doesn’t include the roughly 170,000 who enter the U.S. from Muslim countries every year on green cards or the thousands more who come as college students and are only lightly screened.

The wisdom of importing 10,000 Syrian refugees over the next year (and many more in 2017) has been hotly debated in Congress with almost no mention of the more than 1 million Muslim refugees who have already arrived over the past 25 years from Somalia, Iraq, Afghanistan, Bosnia, Burma, Uzbekistan, Sudan, Democratic Republic of Congo and other terror hotbeds.

The FBI already has more than 900 active investigations into ISIS sympathizers in all 50 states. It is stretched to the limit of its abilities to foil all of the potential terror attacks, yet more high-risk refugees and immigrants enter the U.S. every day. More than 500 come every month from Somalia alone, despite the fact that Somali refugees have displayed difficulties assimilating into U.S. culture and dozens have been arrested, tried and convicted of providing material support to overseas terrorist organizations.

Nor has there been any uproar over the 100,000 Syrians who have arrived in the U.S. on green cards or student visas since the outbreak of the Syrian civil war. These Syrians would have been subjected to far less vetting than any of the refugees who are arriving now.

But most of the focus among immigration hawks in Congress remains on border patrol.

“The southern land border remains vulnerable to intrusion and exists as a point of extreme vulnerability,” Rep. Duncan Hunter, California Republican, wrote in a letter to Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson last week demanding to know how many people in the FBI’s terrorist screening database have been caught at the border.

“Evidently there are criminal organizations and individuals with the networks and know-how to facilitate illegal entry into the United States without regard for one’s intentions or status on a terrorist watchlist,” Mr. Hunter wrote. “The detention of the two Pakistani nationals underscores the fact that any serious effort to secure our homeland must include effective border security and immigration enforcement.”

The FBI, whose agents were brought in to interview the two men, declined to comment to the Times about the case, saying it had “no information to provide.”

The Border Patrol turned the men over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, which said they have been in custody since September and are being held while they face immigration court proceedings.

But this is by no means an anomaly.

WND reported in May that DHS had transported an entire busload of Somali nationals to a detention center in Victorville, California, after they showed up at the border seeking asylum. They were likely never deported, immigration lawyers told WND.

Yet, when 27 Chaldean Christians from Iraq showed up at the border seeking asylum, most were deported and those not deported face criminal charges, WND reported.

A year ago, the Border Patrol apprehended four Kurdish men who said they were part of the Revolutionary People’s Liberation Front Party, which is listed by the U.S. State Department as a terrorist organization. Jeh Johnson, the Homeland Security secretary, said the four were actually members of the Kurdish Workers’ Party, which is also listed as a terrorist organization by the U.S. government, the Washington Times reported.

Farrakhan: Trump ‘will take America into abyss of hell’

Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan is warning U.S. voters: “If Donald Trump becomes president, he will take America into the abyss of hell.”

Farrakhan posted a video of his statements on his Facebook page Thursday.

In the video, Farrakhan acknowledges that Trump has “done some great things in the business world,” but then he accused the GOP frontrunner of “exacerbating the race situation in America.”

“Mr. Trump is tearing away the skin of the onion of white civility. And the more he pulls the skin of that onion back, he’s beginning to show something in the character of the whites that follow him, that they don’t care what he says,” Farrakhan charged.

“He could say one thing this minute, another thing the next minute and you can see that the man has a little problem.”

Farrakhan then issued his warning to voters about what a Trump presidency would mean for the nation.

“I will guarantee you. If he becomes president, if he becomes president, he’ll take America exactly where America is heading,” Farrakhan charged. “He’ll take you there on a rocket ship.

“How can a man say he’s not a thug, he’s a diplomat, he’s a president? We’ll go into Iraq and we’ll just take their oil. See? That’s the thug coming out. That’s that part of the nature of the beast that’s manifesting.

“Well, if he becomes your president, you’ll be just like him. … When you get leadership that is not rooted in justice, then they begin to make the people just like themselves.”

By the end of his lecture, Farrakhan cautioned America to think long and hard before electing leaders like Trump.

“Be careful, America. You’re headed into the abyss of hell, and if you make a mistake in choosing your leaders, maybe you’ll go there faster,” he said.

Lt. Col. Allen West sounded off on Farrakhan’s statement:

“Actually, Farrakhan has a point here. Indeed, as the past seven years of President Barack Obama have reminded us in the most painful way, making a mistake in our choice of leaders is taking us down into the abyss faster than we ever imagined. No one has done more ‘exacerbating the race situation in America’ than President Obama himself. He and his administration have torn away the skin of ‘black civility’ indeed, fomenting the likes of Black Lives Matter, who have declared open season on cops and even whites in general. And anyone who dares to question this — or suspicious and/or hateful actions by any ‘minority’ group — fears repercussions ranging from being labeled a racist to persecution by our own attorney general to a fate even worse.

“People have had enough of this division and political correctness gone so far as to trump Americans’ God-given liberties, and Donald Trump is striking a chord. And it’s not just a white thing, as Farrakhan suggests.”

As WND reported just this week, Trump is enjoying a surge in support from minorities, who are lining up behind him.

A new poll, which still has Trump leading the race, shows 40 percent of blacks are lining up behind Trump, as are 45 percent of Hispanics, and nearly 19 percent of Asians.

Blacks and Hispanics, in fact, even support Trump at higher levels that whites, according to the survey.

The results are from a new WND/Clout poll by Clout Research, a national opinion research firm in Columbus, Ohio. The telephone survey of registered voters was taken Dec. 18-27, except for the holiday, and has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.35 percentage points.

Only Dr. Ben Carson pulled more support from the black community than Trump, at 50 percent, and no one had more support from Hispanics than Trump. Among Asians, 37.5 percent supported Sen. Marco Rubio, with Sen. Ted Cruz matching Trump’s 18.8 percent.

In October this year, Farrakhan said Trump and ISIS are both signs God is judging the U.S. and “The battle is on and the plagues are coming down on America.”

As WND reported, Farrakhan made headlines last summer when he made controversial statements calling for an army of 10,000 to “rise up and kill those who kill us.”

Here, in context, is what Farrakhan said on July 30:

“I’m looking for ten thousand in the midst of the million. Ten thousand men who say, ‘death is sweeter than continued life under tyranny,’” Farrakhan told the congregants at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Miami.

“Death is sweeter than to continue to live and bury our children, while white folks give the killer hamburgers.

“Death is sweeter, than watching us slaughter each other, to the joy of a 400-year-old enemy. Yes, death is sweeter.

“The Quran teaches persecution is worse than slaughter. Then it says, ‘retaliation is prescribed in matters of the slain.’ Retaliation is a prescription from God (beats his breast), to calm the breast of those whose children have been slain.

“So if the federal government will not intercede in our affairs, then we must rise up and kill those who kill us. Stalk them and kill them and let them feel the pain of death that we are feeling.”

Farrakhan made the comments at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Miami, where he referred to a “400-year-old enemy,” which many took to mean white people.

Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson, founder of the Los Angeles-based Brotherhood Organization of a New Destiny (BOND) and a WND columnist, weighed in on Farrakhan’s incendiary comments.

“Louis Farrakhan made terror threats against white Americans in his recent speech at a Baptist church in Miami, and the silence from Barack Obama, Attorney General Loretta Lynch, the media and most conspicuously – black Americans – is deafening,” he wrote. “Farrakhan did not make this speech in a mosque. He made it in a Christian church. And the congregation cheered his chilling threats of death against white Americans as if Jesus Christ had come down from heaven.”

The Nation of Islam hosted the 20th anniversary of the Million Man March, with its chilling “Justice or Else” theme, on Oct. 10 in Washington, D.C.

Peterson pointed out: “The average black person will tell you that Farrakhan is on the fringe – that he doesn’t represent the mainstream black community.”

Net migration to U.S. adds 1 person every 29 seconds

Net international migration is expected to add one person to the U.S. population every 29 seconds, the U.S. Census Bureau reports.

“The combination of births, deaths and net international migration increases the U.S. population by one person every 17 seconds,” according to the bureau.

About 1.1 million immigrants enter the U.S. legally every year, an all-time record high. They comes as refugees – about 85,000 every year – as green-card holders and through a multitude of other immigration programs.

Another approximately 400,000 people cross the U.S. Southern border illegally every year.

The latest Census numbers were released Dec. 22. Areas like California’s Bay area are the “victim of its own prosperity” with too many people and not enough housing, not enough schools, and not enough funding for schools and services, reported CBS San Francisco.

Crime rates in places like Oakland are also spiraling.

America has grown by 2.5 million people in the last year. The U.S. Census Bureau has released its projection for the United States population and predicts it will hit 322,762,018 on New Year’s Day, the Washington Times reported.

This represents an increase of 2,472,745 people, or 0.77 percent, from one year ago.

“In 2016, the United States is expected to experience one birth every eight seconds and one death every 10 seconds. Meanwhile, net international migration is expected to add one person to the U.S. population every 29 seconds,” the federal agency says.

“The combination of births, deaths and net international migration increases the U.S. population by one person every 17 seconds.”

Meanwhile, the projected world population on Jan. 1 is 7,295,889,256, an increase of 77,918,825, or 1.08 percent, from New Year’s Day 2015, according to the Washington Times.

In January 2016, 4.3 births and 1.8 deaths are expected worldwide every second, the agency noted.

According to the Washington Post, the website used to redirect to the Wikipedia page of rapper Kanye West. However, the Internet recently noticed a significant change to the website’s redirect link. One might say it was quite a YUUUUUGE adjustment. So now when users click on any link to Loser.com, it takes them to Trump’s Wikipedia page instead.

Obama launches ‘secret’ new immigration scheme

Asylum seekers such as these could apply for suspension of deportation and receive a work permit under Obama’s proposed new rules, which bypass Congress entirely

In the final hours of 2015 the Obama administration has quietly proposed a host of rule changes that critics say will end up being a bonanza for foreign students and illegal immigrants seeking work in the U.S. while putting a dagger in the hearts of thousands of American workers.

The rules, as proposed by Obama’s Department of Homeland Security, make it easier for employers to hire and retain foreign workers who have not yet received their green cards or “lawful protected resident” status.

The U.S. already hands out approximately 1 million green cards per year, but under the proposed changes those foreigners who apply unsuccessfully for a green card can enter the workforce with a temporary work permit.

The proposed changes, all 181 pages of them, showed up in the Federal Register on New Year’s Eve. They would ease regulations that govern the way work permits are handed out to foreign nationals, including some who enter the U.S. illegally or who come on visas that would not allow them to work.

One of the most pernicious of these new rules, according to immigration-watchdog groups, is the treatment of illegal immigrants who enter the U.S. seeking asylum.

Buried on page 113 of the document is a provision that says “Aliens who have properly filed applications for asylum or withholding of deportation or removal” will automatically be eligible to receive a work permit.

Anyone in the U.S. illegally who has filed an application for a suspension of deportation would be allowed to work legally under these new rules.

“Someone could just show up at border, file for asylum, and get a work permit — without even having to meet asylum criteria,” said one congressional aide on Capitol Hill.

Another change buried in the document is a proposal to provide work permits to spouses and children of the foreign workers.

Many of the changes would apply to work permits issued to foreign college-graduates who will compete against Americans primarily for white-collar positions. The new rules, which completely bypass Congress, will make foreign graduates cheaper for U.S. employers to hire than many U.S.-born college grads.

One of the more controversial aspects of the rule changes is a proposed automatic renewal of the work permit for 15 categories of foreign nationals. Several of the categories who would benefit from the automatic renewals include persons who entered the U.S. illegally while others may have come legally as a refugee, asylum seeker or one of the myriad temporary visa programs but have not yet received a green card.

The new rules would vastly increase the number of “employment authorization documents,” commonly referred to as a “work permit,” issued to foreign nationals each year.

The EAD or “work permit” allows a foreign national to work in the United States on a temporary basis, typically for two years although the time-frame can vary, and should not be confused with the more permanent “green card.”

It’s unclear how many foreign nationals would be allowed to stay in the country every year under these new rules who otherwise would be forced to leave, but it could run into the tens of thousands, according to critics.

“It’s theoretically not limited except by the number of applications,” said the congressional aide. “Think of it this way: the Obama administration can approve an unlimited number of green card applications, knowing they are in excess of the cap and going into the ‘backlog’ ‎and then they can give everyone EADs, creating a kind of parallel immigration program.”

And here’s the kicker. The administration has already, since 2009, been granting work permits to people who have merely “applied” for asylum, according to research and reports from Jessica Vaughan at the Center for Immigration Studies. This extends that policy, and formalizes it.

“Because neither lawful permanent residents (green card holders) nor temporary work visa holders need a work permit, this amounts to a huge parallel immigrant work authorization system outside the numerical limits and categories set by Congress,” Vaughan writes. “The huge number of work permits being issued above and beyond these limits inevitably reduces opportunities for U.S. workers, damages the integrity of the immigration system, and encourages illegal immigration.”

Approximately 2.1 million work permits were issued to aliens with temporary visas or who entered under the Visa Waiver Program between 2009 and the end of 2014. Of these, about 1.4 million (66 percent) had a visa status for which employment is generally prohibited under the law, except in what are supposed to be rare cases, Vaughan reports. For example, more than 548,000 work permits were issued to aliens on tourist visas and 593,000 were issued to foreign students. More than 213,000 were issued to dependents of students and guest workers — all categories in which the law prohibits employment except in rare circumstances.”

The Hill aide said the rule changes amount to semantical chicanery.

“Ask yourself: why would an asylum ‘applicant’ need a new work permit? How long are they going to be allowed to live and work here before they have even been approved?” he said. “And, if rejected, they will obviously never leave. These are eligibility criteria invented by the administration.”

And all of these inventions showed up in the Federal Register while Congress is away from Washington for the holidays.

There is also a national security aspect to the changes not lost on some observers.

William Gheen, president of Americans for Legal Immigration or ALIPAC, said most of these asylum seekers and college grads given work permits will not be properly screened and the result will be chaos.

“Obama and his socialist billionaire backers like George Soros want to attract and import as many people into America as possible before the end of his term to secure their long-range plans to overthrow the American republic from within,” Gheen told WND. “They want more people with views that are foreign to American principles and our Constitution that are also dependent upon the corrupt federal government for their presence and livelihood here. Obama can do these things because Ryan and his 150 RINOs in Congress are funding, protecting, and facilitating Obama’s betrayals of the Constitution and our citizens.”

The purpose of the changes, as stated by Obama’s DHS, is “to provide additional stability and flexibility to employers and workers” who benefit from the employment-based visa programs by “improving job portability” for foreign workers.

State Dept. breaks judge’s deadline on Hillary emails

Hillary Clinton received a New Year’s Eve gift when the State Department broke a judge’s order to release a batch of emails from her tenure as secretary of state.

Officials are blaming the holiday season for the State Department’s inability to release over 8,000 pages of emails on Thursday.

“We have worked diligently to come as close to the goal as possible, but with the large number of documents involved and the holiday schedule we have not met the goal this month,” the State Department said in a statement released Thursday.

Roughly 5,500 of the Democratic Party presidential front-runner’s emails will be released instead.

The State Department has struggled to live up an order by Judge Rudolph Contreras in response to a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit brought by Vice News reporter Jason Leopold. Clinton eventually turned over 30,000 emails to the federal government when a congressional probe of the Sept. 11, 2012, Benghazi terror attacks in Libya revealed her use of a private email server to conduct official business.

An FBI investigation is underway to determine whether Clinton’s decision to use a private server violated a subsection of the Espionage Act related to “gross negligence” in handling government documents. Clinton maintains she did nothing wrong, even though hundreds of documents that passed through the server were classified.

Extra scrutiny of Clinton’s emails has been fueled by discrepancies between her initial public statements on the Benghazi terror attack and her private messages.

In one email to “Diane Reynolds” on the night of the attack (a pseudonym used by Chelsea Clinton), the former secretary of state wrote, “Two of our officers were killed in Benghazi by an al-Qaida-like group,” CNN reported Thursday. She then made a public statement linking the attack to outrage over an obscure YouTube video.

Clinton’s public comments came as President Obama was in a re-election campaign making claims al-Qaida was “on the run.”

U.S. Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens, foreign service officer Sean Smith and CIA contractors Tyrone S. Woods and Glen Doherty died during the attacks.

Clinton privately blamed the Sept. 11, 2012, terror attacks in Benghazi, Libya, on an al-Qaida-affiliated group.

Ohio Republican Jim Jordan grilled Clinton on her conflicting stories Oct. 22 during the House Select Committee on Benghazi.

“Where did the false narrative start? It started with you, Madame Secretary,” Jordan said, Townhall reported.

“I referred to the video that night in a very specific way,” Clinton replied. “I said some have sought to justify the attack because of the video. I used those words deliberately, not to ascribe a motive to every attacker but as a warning to those across the region that there was no justification for further attacks.”

The State Department vowed to release more of Clinton’s emails next week to make up for its failure to live up to Contreras’ order.

All of the Democrat front-runner’s emails are scheduled to be released by Jan. 29, 2016.

U.K. government responds to petition to ban Trump

(CNN)The United Kingdom isn’t formally barring Donald Trump from entering its borders — at least not yet.

The British government on Wednesday offered a pointedly inconclusive response to an online citizens’ petition asking that Trump be banned from the country.

In its statement, the government reaffirmed the power of Home Secretary Theresa May to “exclude a non-European Economic Area national from the UK if she considers their presence in the UK to be non-conducive to the public good,” but does not clearly state whether her office would apply that criteria to Trump.
