Baltimore police cart off one of their wounded.

An assistant prosecutor from Wayne County, Michigan, resigned her post Friday after superiors discovered a Facebook message she put out saying the way to peace for Baltimore was to shoot the protesters.

“This afternoon, assistant prosecutor Teana Walsh called prosecutor Kym Worthy to announce that she is voluntarily resigning her position with the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office. Prosecutor Worthy has accepted her resignation,” assistant prosecutor Maria Miller said, the Detroit News reported.

She went on: “During her tenure in the office, Teana Walsh has been known for her great work ethic and her compassion for victims of crime and their families. Her [Facebook] post was up online briefly, and she immediately took it down. The post was completely out of character for her and certainly does not reflect the person that we know.”

The Facebook post, up April 27 but since removed, said this: “So I am watching the news in Baltimore and see larges swarms of people throwing bricks, etc. at police who are fleeing from their assaults … 15 in the hospital already.”

And then Walsh called for the shooting of protesters.

“Solution. Simple,” she wrote. “Shoot em. Period. End of discussion. I don’t care what causes the protesters to turn violent … what the ‘they did it because’ reason is … no way is this acceptable. Flipping disgusting.”

A Michigan group that seeks to hold government officials accountable saw the post and called for an investigation.

Freddie Gray’s death ruled a homicide

Marilyn Mosby, the state’s attorney in charge of the investigation of the death of Freddie Gray, said at a press conference Friday the medical report indicates there was “probable cause” that a crime occurred, and the involved officers have all been charged with a variety of offenses, including manslaughter.

She also said the autopsy report, which has been sent to prosecutors, shows Gray was not properly handled during his arrest and that examiners concluded his death was due to homicide.

Specifically, she said “Gray suffered injuries … as as result of being handcuffed, shackled at his feet,” and placed unrestrained, without seatbelt, in the police wagon.

Baltimore Police Department policy spells out very specific transport procedures for suspects, none of which were followed in Gray’s case, she said.

Gray was also denied immediate medical treatment by police, though he requested it twice, she said.

Six officers have been charged with a variety of crimes, including second degree murder, involuntary manslaughter, assault, misconduct, false imprisonment and negligent. Shortly after the charges were read, the crowd rallied about Mosby’s podium let out an audible cheer.

The officers’ police union put out a statement of defense shortly after the press conference.

“None of these officers are responsible for Freddie Gray’s death,” the police union for the officers said, in a statement to the press. “To the contrary, at all times, each of the officers … protected Mr. Gray.”

Baltimore and several cities around the nation have been torn by violence in recent days, as protesters took to the streets to rally against what they claimed was an act of police brutality.

Social-media challenge: Stomp U.S. flag

Flag_001

Flag stomping has taken to social media as a challenge.

A video challenge to show solidarity with a New Black Panther Party college student who’s being sought by police asks watchers to stomp the American flag and post their pictures to the Internet.

It’s called the #EricSheppardChallenge, aimed at giving support to a Valdosta State University student who self-identifies as a “terrorist toward white people,” as WND previously reported. Sheppard, 22, first made national headlines when a female veteran tried to intervene in his flag burning on campus. The video of their exchange, and the veteran’s subsequent altercation with police, went viral. Police later recovered a backpack belonging to Sheppard containing a gun and two clips, and kicked off a search for him.

Sheppard, meanwhile, has disappeared, and his father has called for him to turn himself in to authorities. The college student is reportedly a member of the New Black Panther Party and calls himself a “terrorist toward liars and those who are weak,” as well as a “terrorist toward white people.”

Now, social media activists are taking to Facebook and Instagram to display photos and videos of themselves treating the flag with disrespect.

In one particularly graphic video, a poster named Erica Walker opens with a “[Expletive] you flag” before placing it on the ground and dancing on it, Campus Reform reported.

She’s also uploaded to her Facebook page other videos, including one from a woman named Marlie Mahogany who said she participated in the flag-desecration because “America was built on the backs of our ancestors,” Campus Reform reported.
