Social-media challenge: Stomp U.S. flag

Flag_001

Flag stomping has taken to social media as a challenge.

A video challenge to show solidarity with a New Black Panther Party college student who’s being sought by police asks watchers to stomp the American flag and post their pictures to the Internet.

It’s called the #EricSheppardChallenge, aimed at giving support to a Valdosta State University student who self-identifies as a “terrorist toward white people,” as WND previously reported. Sheppard, 22, first made national headlines when a female veteran tried to intervene in his flag burning on campus. The video of their exchange, and the veteran’s subsequent altercation with police, went viral. Police later recovered a backpack belonging to Sheppard containing a gun and two clips, and kicked off a search for him.

Sheppard, meanwhile, has disappeared, and his father has called for him to turn himself in to authorities. The college student is reportedly a member of the New Black Panther Party and calls himself a “terrorist toward liars and those who are weak,” as well as a “terrorist toward white people.”

Now, social media activists are taking to Facebook and Instagram to display photos and videos of themselves treating the flag with disrespect.

In one particularly graphic video, a poster named Erica Walker opens with a “[Expletive] you flag” before placing it on the ground and dancing on it, Campus Reform reported.

She’s also uploaded to her Facebook page other videos, including one from a woman named Marlie Mahogany who said she participated in the flag-desecration because “America was built on the backs of our ancestors,” Campus Reform reported.

Michael Moore calls for release of black inmates

Michael Moore

Michael Moore, one of Hollywood’s most noted leftist filmmakers, sent out a grouping of tweets about the aftermath of Baltimore’s Freddie Gray incident calling for the release of all black drug criminals from jail, and the total disarmament of police.

His first, sent shortly after 3 a.m., was a bit incomprehensible: “Imprison u. shoot u. severe your spine, crush your larnx, send u to war, keep u poor, call u a thug, not let u vote. But u can sing for us.”

But his next two, as reported by Breitbart, were much clearer.

Nearly an hour later, Moore tweeted: “Here’s my demand: I want every African-American currently incarcerated for drug ‘crimes’ or nonviolent offenses released from prison today.”

And again, an hour later: “Next demand: Disarm the police. We have a 1/4 billion 2nd amendment guns in our homes 4 protection. We’ll survivle til the right cops r hired.”

His tweeted messages come on the heels of almost a week’s worth of violent protests that began in Baltimore but spread to several other cities, from Boston to Seattle to Denver.

They also come as the nation still awaits final word on how Gray died, and why he was injured. Late Thursday, medical officials reported Gray’s head injury was consistent with a bolt inside the van where police detained him.

Arresting Freddie Gray cop had psychiatric problems

Baltimore

Police clash with protesters who took to streets in wake of Freddie Gray’s death.

The officer-in-charge in the arrest of Freddie Gray – tha Baltimore man whose death after police custody has sparked nationwide protests – had a history of mental illness that led to hospitalization in 2012, sheriff’s office records show.

The Associated Press obtained the records, which also said Lt. Brian Rice, the officer who first ran after Gray on the streets and who was the highest-ranking cop on the scene, once suffered mental health issues for an unknown amount of time that reached the level of concern for local sheriff’s deputies to confiscate his guns. Rice was put under psychiatric care in a hospital in April 2012 after declaring he “could not continue to go on like this,” AP said.

He also threatened to commit an act that was censored from public view in the report AP obtained from the Carroll County, Maryland, Sheriff’s Office. He reportedly made that threat after deputies were called by a fellow Baltimore police officer to go check on his welfare at his home.

Then, deputies said he seemed “normal and soft spoken,” and attributed his condition to simply seeking “sympathy and attention,” the report said. At the same time, “credible information” led the responding deputies to confiscate all Rice’s guns, call his commanding officer and take him to a local hospital for watch.

AP couldn’t determine from the documents how long Rice stayed at the hospital and whether he left under his own volition.

Rice was also given two administrative suspensions in 2012 and 2013, an unnamed source familiar with the police department told AP.

The revelation comes as the Department of Justice and Baltimore police are seeking information into the death of Gray, 25, who reportedly ran after making eye contact in the street with Rice and was then taken into custody by several officers. After Gray was taken into the back of a police van, he was transported to the hospital for treatment of injuries and unresponsiveness and died a week later.

More information about his medical condition and the specifics of Gray’s death is due for release. Police in Baltimore and other cities around the country are on edge, as protesters have indicated they are not quitting their rallies until the truth is known and justice is served.

EPA chief at X-rated music festival: ‘We need you’

(Fox News) EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy told attendees of a music festival “we need you,” in between groups who rapped, “Looking at that white girl, trying to get that white money,” and “Got a super bad b-tch, no ass, no t-ts, but I really do love her like sh-t.”

McCarthy appeared at the “environmental justice” Broccoli festival on Saturday to raise awareness about climate change.

“It’s great to see so many young people who are so passionate about issues like the environment, keeping our communities healthy, and the issue of climate change,” she said. “I want you to know that your voice is incredibly important and that’s why I am here to ask you to raise your voice every chance you get. There you go, because we need you!”
