Lifetime… television for propaganda

The popular women’s movie network Lifetime is running a mini-series to promote Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign with an imaginary story of a young Clinton running to be a revolutionary female class present in 1964.

In the series, called “Young Hillary Diaries,” the story’s lead character faces off against a contender named Ronald Stump for the title of class president.

“I’ve been told I need to smile more and act more ladylike,” the young Clinton character says. “I’ll act like every other woman in history who was told they couldn’t do it because it’s never been done.”

The series channels actual Clinton challenger Donald Trump in talking about her challenger, portraying him as a pompous and sexist pig.

The series will continue running until the Nov. 8th election. And while it’s loose on actual historical details about Clinton’s youth, let’s hope it (and the real election) end in the same way Clinton’s real bid for class president did her senior year… in failure.

In a recent interview with Elle magazine, Clinton suggested that her opponent in that race was a misogynist similar to the caricature of  Trump her campaign is working so hard to push: “When I was a senior, I ran for class president. And I lost. One of my opponents even told me I was ‘really stupid’ if I thought a girl could be elected president.”

P.S. The comments on the YouTube post of Clinton’s Lifetime propaganda series is a real treat:
