What’s the State Department hiding for Clinton?

A top government watchdog says that the State Department may be protecting former top diplomat and current Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton by providing “inaccurate and incomplete” responses to information requests.

According to a 29-page Inspector General report on the State Department’s handling of requests for documents pertaining to Clinton’s tenure, the agency ” has not played a meaningful role in overseeing or reviewing the quality” of information requests.

In some instances, organizations like Judicial Watch, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) and The Associated Press received wildly different responses and sets of records when they put in nearly identical requests for information.

In other cases, State Department officials simply claimed there “no records responsive” to specific queries. That’s what happened when CREW asked for records in 2012 pertaining to the number of different email addresses from which senior staffers at the department regularly received Clinton’s correspondence.

The IG notes that dozens of top State officials, including Clinton chief of staff Cheryl Mills, were well aware that Clinton used the personal email account HDR22@clintonemail.com for most of her official State business. In fact, when the State Department’s FOIA office notified Mills of CREW’s request she had her staff pay special attention to quashing the inquiry.

“[D]ozens of senior officials throughout the Department, including members of Secretary Clinton’s immediate staff, exchanged emails with the Secretary using the personal accounts she used to conduct official business,” the investigation concluded. “OIG found evidence that the Secretary’s then-Chief of Staff was informed of the request at the time it was received and subsequently tasked staff to follow up. However, OIG found no evidence to indicate that any of these senior officials reviewed the search results or approved the response to CREW.”

The IG report also points out that the State Department has yet to respond to 177 requests for documents related to Clinton’s tenure which ended three years ago. Even more damaging, the IG says that State officials actually cut the number of people handling the requests for information as Clinton’s scandals and presidential campaign converged and the requests increased.

The latest information out from the IG is the strongest evidence to date that Clinton orchestrated a massive cover-up to hide the fact that she put American lives at risk by transferring sensitive government information via her private email.
