Sen. Bernie Sanders has Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton by the throat. At least, that’s what the media and Bernie’s noisy supporters would like you to think.
They cite polls showing Sanders throttling Clinton by up to double-digit margins in primary-gateway-state New Hampshire as proof that the doddering communist is putting the old mare in the rearview mirror. To be fair, some polls from those two states do suggest that — from a political perspective — Bernie is doing to Hillary what former President Bill Clinton did to any woman who strayed too close to his motorcade.
Of course those polls, plus five bucks, still won’t get you a pint of Chunky Monkey. Uncle Grandpa might be hammering Nana Hilldawg in the Granite State, but he lives right next door. Head west to the land of ethanol subsidies, and the numbers change dramatically. According to Real Clear Politics’ average of Iowa polling, Sanders and Clinton are splitting the difference, with neither escaping the margin of error.
After Iowa, the Democrats’ nomination road show heads to South Carolina, where Clinton leads Sanders by about 40 points, the electoral equivalent of the curvature of the Earth. Perhaps more telling, by the time they reach the battleground of Florida, Clinton is projected to do to Sanders what her husband is alleged to have done to multiple women over four decades of refusing to take “no” for an answer.
Granted, it is possible for a man born before America entered World War II to defeat a woman born before America entered the Korean conflict. And it’s even possible that he could do so riding on the shoulders of voters born after the Soviet Union exited the planet. Hillary’s scandals, including new revelations that she actively violated multiple federal laws in her deepening email debacle, could be enough to sink her. Her new strategy of suggesting the inspector general conspired with the Republicans — a theory which would require the Obama administration to be part of the “vast right-wing conspiracy” — suggests she may be growing desperate. It also suggests she’s developing concerns that she may be criminally indicted. Should she be indicted, logic would dictate that Sanders get the nomination by default.
And then, the fun would really begin. Sanders may refer to himself as a “Democratic Socialist.” Sanders may even believe that “Democratic Socialist” is a real thing. But Sanders is an old-school Marxist; and I do mean “old,” and I really do mean “Marxist.” This guy has been living off the taxpayer’s dole since Hillary’s husband was molesting the women of Little Rock, Arkansas, with his lone accomplishment in all that time being that he’s managed to stay on the gravy train without earning his seat. With his almost Orwellian idea of government control of everything from prices of goods to the wages of those who produce them, Sanders is living proof that term limits might not be the worst idea ever. In fact, his current plans include tax hikes of nearly $20 trillion, a setup that would put future generations of Americans in hock up to their globalist bankster-owned eyeballs. Although by then, the overarching power of the state that would be necessitated by Sanders’ plans to copy the systems that made the aforementioned Soviet Union such a party would either have crushed their souls or so enraged them that they sent it packing.
And let’s not forget Bernie’s unorthodox ideas about gender relations. “A woman enjoys intercourse with her man — as she fantasizes being raped by 3 men simultaneously.” Sanders’ supporters would be quick to tell you that the old boy wrote that when their own parents were still in college. But I’d remind you that Mitt Romney gave a guy a bad haircut way back in 1965, and the Democrats thought that was relevant in 2012. At least Romney didn’t say the guy was asking hoping for it.
Last week, I asked: “If (the Democrats are) struggling to convince themselves that Hillary is the right woman for the toughest job on Earth, what does that say about her credentials?” This week, I’m asking: “If the Democrats’ backup plan is Bernie, what does that say about their credentials?”
