GOP candidate: ‘I’m Prince of Light,’ Trump ‘Prince of Darkness’

John Kasich, the oft-forgotten Republican candidate in the Republican primary race for the presidency, gave himself a somewhat lofty title while trying to lay out his positives in comparison with front-runner Donald Trump, saying bluntly: I’m the “prince of light and hope,” he said.

He went on, labeling Trump, as well as other candidates of the billionaire’s ilk, as opposite.

“Look, we have a lot of candidates who are like the ‘prince of darkness,’” Kasich said, Breitbart reported. “I consider myself the ‘prince of light and hope,’ and I don’t spend all my time getting people riled up about how bad everything is.”

Kasich has been struggling in the polls – so much so that when he actually records positive numbers, political watchers are suspicious.

American Research Group, ARG, for instance just scored Kasich second in New Hampshire, at 20 percent to first-place finisher Trump’s 27 percent. But take ARG out of the picture, and all the other polls put Kasich in fifth place, behind Trump, at nearly 31 percent; Sen. Marco Rubio, at 14 percent; Sen. Ted Cruz, at almost 13 percent; and Gov. Chris Christie, at 11 percent, Red State reported.

“ARG has a justifiably poor reputation as pollster,” Red State said. “Down the stretch run in 2012, it significantly overestimated Mitt Romney’s performance in New Hampshire.”

Red State isn’t the only news source raising eyebrows at Kasich’s supposed surge in certain surveys.

The New York Times blasted out a headline that read: “A Kasich Surge? Even a Suspect Poll Can Help This Time of Year.”

The story went on to refer to the same ARG poll, and state: “There is no way to know whether a new poll from [ARG] is correct … For good measure, the poll is not a reputable one. The American Research Group has an unusually lengthy record of high-profile misfires, including for almost all of the 2008 Democratic primaries and in the 2012 general election.”
