Uber drivers and riders cannot carry guns in vehicles any longer.
Uber announced it would no longer allow drivers and passengers – even ones with concealed carry permits – to bring firearms into its vehicles.
The company made the announcement just three months after one of its drivers pulled a vehicle to the side and shot his own weapon at a gunman who was firing into a crowd in Chicago’s Logan Square. The driver reportedly wounded 22-year-old Everardo Custodio with six shots to “the shin, thigh and lower back,” stopping what could have been a gruesome street scene, Breitbart reported.
Uber now says nobody can carry weapons in its vehicles, though, “to make sure riders and drivers feel comfortable,” the Associated Press reported.
“Drivers or riders who violate the rule may lose access to the platform,” the company said in a statement.
