Presidential hopeful Sen. Marco Rubio turned the tables on protesters who interrupted his “Road to the Majority” conference speech in Washington, D.C., telling them they were lucky to be Americans – that if they tried that in another country, they could be jailed.
Rubio was interrupted by college-age individuals who shouted out pro-amnesty messages in the midst of his stage talk.
“DAPA, implement DAPA,” screamed one protester, in reference to President Obama’s Deferred Action for Parents of Americans and Lawful Permanent Residents, as he was removed from the audience, Campus Reform reported.
And Rubio’s response?
He spoke of the greatness of America that allows for such interruptions.
“I hope you never take that for granted, by the way,” he said. “If you do that in another country, you would be in jail tonight.”
He went on, talking about the differences between America’s “free society” and other countries’ clamped governments.
“If you do that in another country, your family’s house could be raided, your businesses can be closed,” Rubio said, Campus Reform reported. “American people have the right to interrupt speeches, we have the right to be rude, they have a right to be wrong. We live in a free society.”
