“Hillary 2016″ promises to be one of the most bizarre presidential campaigns in recent memory.
Or ever.
Hillary Rodham Clinton has been in the public spotlight for decades, and it is likely she had presidential aspirations as far back as the early ’60s, when her progressive Methodist youth pastor in suburban Chicago, Don Jones, helped turn the promising teen into a leftist ideologue.
Clinton of course needs no real introduction, but let’s run through the highlights: law school (a bit part in the Watergate proceedings); governor’s wife; first lady; U.S. senator; secretary of state.
Oh, and wife of that old Arkansas polecat, Bill Clinton.
Through it all, Hillary Clinton has put on the full armor of her god, and the armor is Teflon. The cascade of scandals stretches back decades, but none more odious than her role in “Benghazigate” in which four brave Americans, including Ambassador Chris Stevens, were murdered by jihadists in Libya. We now know the administration did not do what was necessary to rescue them.
Now, in a blockbuster book, investigative journalist Aaron Klein uncovers the gruesome and infuriating secrets that spotlight the cowardice and cold political inclinations of the Obama White House, especially the handling of Benghazi. Secretary Clinton had a prominent role, and in her now-infamous screech (“What difference does it make?”), she cements her reputation as a political shark.
In “The Real Benghazi Story: What the White House and Hillary Don’t Want You To Know,” Klein presents a bulletproof case for making sure that voters don’t elect Clinton as president. It’s as simple as that.
The Sept. 11, 2012 attack on the American embassy is a textbook example of how not to defend diplomats. As Klein writes: “The White House should have lost all credibility on Benghazi after it was caught deceiving the American public by claiming the onslaught was the result of popular protests against an obscure anti-Islam film.”
The clumsy effort to deflect scrutiny into the ghastly affair mushroomed into a full-blown scandal, one which threatens to derail Clinton’s presidential bid next year. Stevens and his security detail were surrounded while Obama and Clinton dithered.
“It would later emerge that the Obama administration knew from the beginning this was a well-coordinated, well-planned jihadist attack,” writes Klein. “The United States had surveillance video from the mission that showed no popular protest, while Gregory Hicks, the No. 2 U.S. official in Libya at the time of the September 11, 2012, attacks, testified that he knew immediately the attacks were terror strikes, not a protest turned violent. According to Hicks, ‘everybody in the mission’ believed it was an act of terror ‘from the get-go.’”
That is far from all that makes “The Real Benghazi Story” one of the most politically-explosive books of the decade.
Chapter 7 (“Game-Changer: Hillary’s Central, Unreported Role in Benghazi”) is damning.
Remember, Clinton was directly involved in the various details of security for the American compound. Consider this gem from Klein: “Internal security was incomprehensibly left to the devices of armed members of the February 17 Martyrs Brigade militia, a ragtag group affiliated with the al-Qaeda–linked, Islamic extremist Ansar al-Sharia terrorist organization that was later implicated in the Benghazi assault.”
Is the current American political leadership insane or incompetent, or is something darker going on?
Clinton personally approved the waivers necessary for the Americans to occupy that compound. The waivers were required when the compound did not meet the minimum security standards of the State Department.
Klein further reports that Stevens literally walked into a virtual trap: “Besides responsibility for the unfathomable withdrawal and subsequent denial of security at the U.S. special mission, Clinton may have played a role in Stevens’ decision to go to the dangerous facility on the anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, a day when jihadists are particularly motivated to strike our country’s assets. This largely unreported role prompts larger questions about Clinton’s national security decisions and her possible disregard of clear, present, and obvious terrorist threats.”
When readers get a load of Clinton’s colossal bungling of Benghazi, it will make her financial scandals look like a kid getting caught stealing change from her parents’ dresser.
Using common sense, and his own now-legendary research skills, Klein uncovers so much evidence of the fiendish nature of Clinton’s role in Benghazi, it is not a stretch to say that “The Real Benghazi Story” could well become the “Swiftboat” book of the next presidential election.
This is a can’t-miss hot-read for 2015 and beyond.
