South Carolina police officer Michael Slager was indicted for murder in the shooting and killing of motorist Walter Scott.
The North Charleston officer was captured in April on video chasing Scott, a 50-year-old black man, and shooting him after he allegedly tried to grab his stun gun.
The video indicates Scott was running when Slager, from several feet away, fired his gun eight times. Scott was hit five times and died at the scene.
Scarlett Wilson, the South Carolina prosecutor, said a grand jury voted to indict on murder. Slager’s attorney, Andy Savage, told CNN the prosecutor had yet to provide the requested investigative files and therefore he could not issue a comment on “any aspect” of the case.
