Former Texas Gov. Rick Perry is set to announce his run for the White House in 2016 on Thursday – the same day former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush is set to announce he’s going to make a formal announcement about his own run on June 15.
Perry, in a recent poll, is tied for ninth place with millionaire businessman Donald Trump, Fox News reported.
He’s due to make his candidacy official in Dallas, Texas. Perry sought the presidency once before, announcing in Charleston, South Carolina, in August 2011 and quickly surging to the top of the pack. But he fell from favor during debates.
This time around, he’s expected to gain traction off his positive jobs record in Texas, and by the very fact he’s been the longest serving governor of the second largest state, and likely brings a sizeable number of electoral votes to the table.
Bush, meanwhile, who’s currently tied in one recent poll for first place with Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, will announce his own run for the White House on June 15 at Miami Dade College in Florida.
