Schwarzenegger, Rubio jab Trump, jump to judge’s defense

Arnold Schwarzenegger, the action movie icon and former governor of California, issued some strong words of support for the judge who’s hearing the cases against Donald Trump for Trump University, suggesting the presumptive Republican Party presidential nominee was out of line for his comments about a possibly unfair hearing due to ethnic barriers.

The ‘Stop Hillary’ campaign is on fire! Join the surging response to this theme: ‘Clinton for prosecution, not president’

And he wasn’t alone: Sen. Marco Rubio, who dropped his bid for president after losing to Trump in his own home state of Florida, called out the candidate for his remarks, as well.

Trump, in widely reported comments, suggested Judge Gonzalo Curiel might be biased a bit in the case because of the candidate’s desire to build a wall. Curiel, while born in Indiana, is of Hispanic ethnicity and is a member of the San Diego La Raza Lawyers Association, a group tied to the National Council of La Raza, as WND reported.

He’s fielded considerable fire for those comments, and now, Schwarzenegger, who appointed the judge – and who said he voted for Ohio Gov. John Kasich for president – jumped to Curiel’s defense.

“Judge Curiel is an American hero who stood up to the Mexican cartels,” Schwarzenegger tweeted. “I was proud to appoint him when I was Gov.”

Schwarzenegger then linked to an article from the New York Times entitled, “That Judge Attacked by Donald Trump? He’s Face a Lot Worse.”

Former presidential contender Rubio offered up words of praise for the judge, as well, simultaneously telling reporters during a gathering at the Senate that Trump was flat out “wrong” for his comments.

“It’s offensive,” Rubio said, CBS News reported. “He should stop saying it. He’s wrong. The judge is an American.”

And just a few days ago, Megyn Kelly, the Fox News star who spent a very public few months in a public spat with Trump, weighed in on national television and called the candidate’s comments “out of line.”

She said to guest Bill Bennett on her “Kelly File” show: “You tell me. I’m a journalist here at Fox News and I’ve been doing legal commentary here for 10 years. This is out of line.”

Bennett agreed, saying, “Yeah, it’s out of line.”
