House Dems demand end to Planned Parenthood probe

Planned Parenthood

Planned Parenthood

Almost all the Democrats in the House of Representatives, 178 of 188, signed on to a letter to Speaker Paul Ryan, asking he put a stop to the Republican-driven investigation into Planned Parenthood and the organization’s purported sales of baby body parts.

Of particular testiness to the Democrats was Rep. Marsha Blackburn’s call for universities and clinics to release names of those involved in fetal-tissue research and abortions for what they say is “no legitimate congressional reason,” the Hill reported.

The ‘Stop Hillary’ campaign is on fire! Join the surging response to this theme: ‘Clinton for prosecution, not president’

Democrats wrote some contacted by the Republican investigative panel “have expressed fear for their safety if identified in connection with this investigation, with some repeatedly described by [Blackburn] and other Republicans in misleading and inflammatory terms.”

Undercover videos reported by WND and other media outlets allege a widespread Planned Parenthood cover-up of the sale of fetal tissues and baby parts. A grand jury in Texas later decided to indict the makers of the videos for falsely representing themselves during their film-making activities. So Congress stepped in and a panel of Republican members launched their own investigation.

Among their targets: a clinic in Maryland that is one of the few in the nation that provides third-trimester abortions. Republicans have also issued subpoenas to 19 individuals, 17 of whom Democrats say were not given a chance to appear before the panel on a voluntary basis first.
