Former Secretary of State and Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton
Webster Hubbell worked with Hillary Clinton on legal matters back in the day in Arkansas.
And he later served as an associate attorney general for her husband, Bill Clinton, so he’s been an insider in politics for some time.
But his latest newsletter offers a huge no-endorsement statement for former law partner Hillary Clinton, who has been describing GOP president front-runner Donald Trump as a “racist,” and more lately.
Without mentioning Hillary Clinton’s name, Hubbell’s newsletter said candidates should be able to articulate for voters why they want to be in office, and what they will do.
Hubbell cited Bill Clinton in saying, “He never suggested that a good reason to run is to be against another person or an issue.”
He quoted the former president, “You must be able to articulate in clear terms why you are running for office, and what you will do if elected.”
Hubbell made the comments in his newest online newsletter.
On the “current state of politics,” he said, “Surely by May we will know who the nominees are for the two major parties. Then again, I’ve been wrong a lot about this election so far, and I see no signs of that stopping. My hope and dreams are that we start to hear a little more about dreams about our future than our fears. I used to have a rule that I wouldn’t vote for anyone unless he/she told me the reasons why I should vote For that individual not why I should be Against the opponent. I ended up too often not having anyone to vote for.

“Whether you are a supporter of former President Bill Clinton or not, I used to overhear many times people coming up to him saying they wanted to run for public office and what advice would he give. It was always the same answer He said, ‘You must be able to articulate in clear terms why you are running for office, and what you will do if elected.’ He never suggested that a good reason to run is to be against another person or an issue. His emphasis was always on the For not the Against.”
Hubbell told WND that his commentary was about “what’s been going on” in politics this year, especially the Republican primary, where “Lyin’ Ted,” “Crooked Hillary,” “Little Marco” and a bunch more labels have been created by the frontrunning Trump, and his critics have criticized Trump for “small hands,” among many other insults.
He told WND he was not making an endorsement, because “nobody would listen to me if I did.”
“I’m going just just vote like everyone else,” he said. “I don’t do endorsements.”
The two names, Hubbell and Hillary Clinton, have been linked in lots of stories lately, but on a subject unrelated to politics.
WND reported on the scandalous suggestion in a new book by Roger Stone and Robert Morrow, “The Clintons’ War on Women,” that alleged Hubbell, Hillary Clinton’s partner at the Little Rock Rose Law Firm and, later, associate attorney general of the U.S. in the Clinton administration, is Chelsea Clinton’s father.
“The Clintons’ War on Women” is available now at the WND Superstore
The claim made the rounds after Morrow confronted Chelsea Clinton about the story at an Austin, Texas, book-signing event at which she was promoting her children’s book, “It’s Your World: Get Informed, Get Inspired, & Get Going.”
“Hey, Chelsea,” Morrow asked as he approached Chelsea signing books. “Has your mother ever told you you’re the daughter of Webb Hubbell and not Bill Clinton?”
“I’m so proud to be my parents’ daughter,” Chelsea answered, without specifying the identity of the parents of whom she was proud to be the daughter.

Hubbell told WND at the time he had not read the book, and “I don’t plan to.”
Lloyd Grove at the Daily Beast reported just a few years ago that he was back again, after having risen to the level of a federal appointment, been convicted and sent to jail, and then released.
At that time, some two years ago, Hubbell said, “I think Hillary would make a great president. I’d like to see her run. She’ll get elected. But that’s not my call. It’s not my business.”
The report noted it as unclear whether Hillary Clinton would welcome Hubbell’s endorsement.
Hubbell had been mayor of Little Rock as well as chief justice on the Arkansas Supreme Court, but later faced time behind bars for sending inflated bills and filing false expenses reports, the report said, “to bilk his law partners and clients out of hundreds of thousands of dollars.”
The Daily Caller reported last year that Hubbell held no bitterness toward those who prosecuted him, and, in fact, his experience was that the case “made me a better person.”
“It gave me time to analyze myself,” he said at the time.
