Alabama ‘personhood’ bill dies without vote

(Associated Press) An Alabama “personhood” bill which would have effectively banned abortion in the state failed to make it to a vote Thursday in the House of Representatives.

After House Democrats mounted a filibuster, the House adjourned before getting to Republican Rep. Ed Henry’s proposed constitutional amendment.

With only five meeting days left in the legislative session, it’s unlikely the bill will come to the floor again.

“There’s no time,” Henry said. “It’s essentially dead.”
