Hello Bob,
I read your letters all the time and I, for one, do agree 100% all the time, you are truly gifted in your writings. I have a request, would you please write something to the effect that people would understand we need to impeach Obama and nobody will do this?
I have sent emails to our Presidential candidates, my state senators and congress people repeatedly about impeachment and they totally avoid answering, so what is one supposed to do.
Maybe a stiff letter from you to the people would help.
Thank you,
Theresa A.
Dear Theresa,
Thank you for your kind words and for being a devoted Bob Livingston Letter reader. I, in fact, did write a column on grounds for the impeachment of the undocumented usurper currently despoiling the People’s House. It was titled “The case for Obama’s impeachment,” and can be read here. I wrote it knowing full well there was no chance the political class would embark on such a thing.
You are operating under the assumption that there are two political parties and they have differing agendas and one or the other has your best interests at heart. Nothing could be further from the truth. Oh, there are two parties; there is the government party and the people. The issues important to the people are unimportant to the government party.
A bill of impeachment is irrelevant political theater, just as it was during the Bill Clinton presidency. Congress is a criminal enterprise and a good ole boys club. No bill of impeachment would go anywhere, because the fox is guarding the henhouse.
Congressweasels have no fealty to the Constitution. But if they did actually believe and abide by the oath they took, they would never consider removing the first black president because of the riots and unrest that would erupt in the black community. The sycophantic state propaganda media would gin impeachment up as a racial issue and stir up street riots that would make the Watts riots look like Sunday picnic. Besides, it is now much too late in his presidency to make such an action meaningful.
But it doesn’t matter. The government party owes its fealty to the banksters and big business and the New World Order: in other words, fascism. Until the fascist system collapses, an impeachment trial would serve only to gin up the ire of both the right and left and reinforce the false left/right paradigm. If you hold your breath until a Congress that wouldn’t even discuss the poser president’s ineligibility to hold office decides to move with impeachment, you will be dead and buried many times over.
You ask: “What is one supposed to do?” Recognize that government — federal government especially — is your enemy and you have little to no control over it or how elections turn out. Focus on local politics where you can have some influence and elect constitutionally minded, liberty-loving Christians who will uphold the rule of law. When this new crop of politicians rises to take on the federal leviathan, you should push for them to advocate for repeal of the 16th and 17th Amendments, which would end the unconstitutional income tax system and necessarily end the Federal Reserve, and restore selection of senators to the states where the Founders intended. A return to sound money and republicanism is all that will save the nation.
Best wishes,
Bob
