Sen. Marco Rubio has a new sugar daddy. He’s hedge-fund billionaire Paul Singer.
Why is this significant? Singer, who pushed for gay marriage and used his wealth — or the risk of their losing it during campaign season — to silence Republicans on the issue, is also a backer of open borders and expanded granting of H-1B visas.
Rubio was already a promoter of amnesty on behalf of Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs and other Wall Street and some tech firms. Recall that he was part of the 2013 Gang of Eight that tried to craft an amnesty bill that was thwarted by a strong Tea Party push. Singer was behind the Gang of Eight’s efforts. He made a six-figure donation to the National Immigration Forum, a George Soros-backed organization that has pushed for 33 million green cards to be issued in 10 years.
Since 2011, and before Singer got on board, Morgan Stanley was Rubio’s largest direct contributor ($47,564) and Goldman Sachs was his second largest ($33,100). Morgan Stanley is ranked 66th among the companies using the most H-1B visa workers. Goldman Sachs is No. 33. Oracle’s founder, Larry Ellison, recently gave a pro-Rubio super PAC $3 million. Oracle is the 20th biggest user of H-1B workers.
And Rubio has not backed away from his amnesty stance, but has, in fact, doubled down. One of Rubio’s campaign pledges is to create “A New American Economy” on migrant labor by tripling the current H-1B visa program.
It is H-1B visa immigrants who are pushing American STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) workers out of work in the technology sector, and it is H-1B immigrants whom Disney employees were forced to train as their own replacements just recently.
As Breitbart reported, Rubio has co-authored two pieces of legislation to massively expand the H-1B visa program.
New House Speaker Paul Ryan is probably the most ardent supporter of open borders and expanded H-1B visas of all Republicans. As Conservative Review’s Daniel Horowitz recently wrote, “There is nobody around in the party who is more fanatically dedicated to the cause of open borders than Paul Ryan.”
In order to secure his election as speaker, Ryan promised he won’t bring immigration-reform legislation to the House floor while Barack Obama is president. That just means he’s holding it until Rubio becomes president.
And make no mistake; the establishment — which is abandoning Jeb Bush — has gotten behind Rubio. A Rubio presidency, with orders from his new sugar daddy, and a Ryan speakership mean amnesty is coming is 2017.
