During Wednesday’s early Republican presidential debate for the second tier of candidates – those who have only a few percentage points of support, former New York Gov. George Pataki refused to say whether he will support Donald Trump should the real estate magnate and GOP frontrunner become the party’s nominee.
But he did express his feelings.
“Donald Trump is not going to be the Republican nominee. Period. Flat-out. I guarantee you that,” he said.
Pataki was responding to moderator Hugh Hewitt’s charge that Pataki would be breaking a pledge to support the eventual nominee if he refuses to support Trump, as he previously stated he would do on Twitter.
Hewitt demanded to know if Pataki would rather support Hillary Clinton than Trump, but Pataki only reaffirmed he would vote for the GOP nominee.
“Donald Trump is unfit to be president of the United States or the Republican Party’s nominee,” he charged.
The governor then attacked Trump for investing in four casinos in Atlantic City that eventually went bankrupt.
