Martin O’Malley to protest outside DNC headquarters over Hillary-sheltering debate schedule

If the left knows how to do one thing, it’s protest.

This time, at least, the leftist in question has a genuine point.

Former Maryland Gov. and Democratic presidential candidate Martin O’Malley plans to stage a Sept. 16 protest outside the headquarters of the Democratic National Committee, hoping to attract a crowd of folks who are outraged that the DNC is protecting Hillary Clinton, its favored candidate, with a weak and underexposed debate roster through the primary season.

“In an email to supporters with the subject line ‘Time to protest,’ the O’Malley campaign said ‘it’s time to take it up a notch’ and pressure the DNC to expand the number of debates by joining the protest of another group, #AllowDebate, that is planning a Sept. 16 rally outside the committee’s headquarters in Washington,” The Hill reported.

Pretty much all the Democratic presidential candidates, besides Hillary, have clamored for a more open debate process since the DNC announced its paltry schedule. From Oct. 2015 through March 2016, the party has scheduled six primary debates: “a dramatic … reduction from the more than two-dozen debates” during the 2008 presidential primary race, The Hill observed.

O’Malley blasted the DNC in early August for handing Hillary Clinton a “coronation” instead of making her work alongside other Democrats to earn the nomination.

“The [debate] schedule they have proposed does not give voters — nationally, and especially in early states — ample opportunity to hear from the Democratic candidates for President,” O’Malley strategist Bill Hyers said at the time. “If anything, it seems geared toward limiting debate and facilitating a coronation, not promoting a robust debate and primary process.”
